Rewind: "Charlotte has to go into foster care."

No.
She can't.
She's so young.
She almost died without me for a week.
What's going to happen?

I guess I started crying, because the officer gave me a pat on the back.
"Go say goodbye."
Another officer was carrying Charlie's suitcase to the trunk of the cruiser.
I walked up to her, and knelt to one knee.
I opened my arms, which she lept into right away.
I hugged her so tight. I stood up, with her still in my arms. I heard her sobbing into my shoulder. I kissed her long, curly, brown hair.
The officer who was talking to me cleared her throat.
I put her down.
She took the officers hand, hugging her hedgehog in the other arm.
I watched her walk to the cruiser, and watched the officer buckle her seatbelt.
The officer walked around the other side of the car and get in. She spoke into a speaker-radio thing, put it down, and start the car.
"Shay! Are you coming?"
I turned around to see Greg. He was holding Olly's hand, who was in a stretcher.
I glance back at the cruiser.
It's gone.
I shut my eyes for a moment, then nod at Greg.
An EMT helped me into the back of the ambulance and we rode away.

-6 hours later-

Olly needed 7 stitches on her forehead. She was taken into surgery because of the density of the gash. She was in a sedation.
I was sitting in an uncomfortable hospital chair, Greg asleep next to me. Olly's parents were talking to a nurse outside the door. I watched Olly as her chest went up and down.
Up.
Down.
Up.
Down.
Up.
"GAH!!" She shouted, jolting up. The heart monitor went nuts. Greg woke with a start. The nurse outside noticed, and came in and laid Olly down again. Her parents came rushing in. I walked to her bedside.
"Gah... what the.... sHAY! My best friend!" She screamed.
Greg raised an eyebrow at the nurse.
"Morphine's one hell of a drug."
Oh god, this'll be fun.

"And THATS why I always use my own tampons."
We had been laughing at her for almost an hour. She was telling us a story about using the tampon dispenser in Walmart and finding a piece of LEGO in it.
The nurse came in.
"Okay, well, she's had one heck of a day, so let's let her rest."
Olly's Mom nodded at the nurse.
"Come on, everyone. Let's grab a bite to eat, then find a hotel." Her Dad said. We all nodded in agreement.
"okaY BYEEEEE!" Olly waved at the speed of light.
As we were walking out the exit, Greg turned to me and said:
"We are never going to your house again."
