I woke up from the nurse walking into the room. She told me I was going to have to wear a sling until I get surgery. Once I get surgery I'll get a cast. I looked over at the chair Mom was in. She was sound asleep. The nurse apologized for waking me up and left the room so I could go back to sleep.
I woke up again later but this time it was by Mom. She told me she was going to get something to eat and asked me if I wanted anything. I told her I wanted pancakes.
When Mom got back she handed me the pancakes. The looked and smelled delicious. They were covered in syrup and were so fluffy. Every bite was like I was in heaven. Once I finished the pancakes I gave the container to Mom and she threw it away for me. I then realized that I completely forgot about the murder. I was thinking about what I could've done to stop it. I felt guilty. I did nothing to save Madyson or to catch the murderer in the act.
The nurse walked in and interrupted my thoughts. She told me how to put the sling on and told us if we were ready we could leave. We walked to the front desk to get the bill. We walked out the door, through the parking lot, and to our car. We pulled out of the parking lot and started heading home. That's when I realized that if I wanted to investigate the murder, my fractured wrist is going to make it a lot harder.(Authors note: I hope the pancakes made you hungry)
