When I woke up, Henry was nowhere to be found. I sat up and texted him. I asked him where he was then got up and stepped out of the tent. Henry replied and told me he was inside making breakfast. When I walked inside it smelled like pancakes. Memories of the hospital started flooding back to me. The pancakes Henry was making smelled just like the hospital's pancakes. And that's when I realized that I need to stop getting distracted. I need to find out who killed Madyson.
"Would you like to help me investigate Madyson's death?" I asked Henry as soon as he set a plate of pancakes on the table.
He just stared at me for a moment before answering.
"Yes," he said as he sat down.
We ate our pancakes as we talked about ideas for a plan. As we were cleaning up the dishes we finally came up with a plan. We were going to sneak out every night and head to the alleyway where Madyson was murdered. Maybe we were going to encounter who killed her. That night we snuck out even though we had school in the morning. We met up a block away from the alleyway.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Henry asked me in a quiet whisper. "We could always wait until the weekend."
"Yes I'm sure," I whispered back. "The sooner we do this the better. The murderer could skip town by the weekend."
"True. You're right," he said as he signaled that we should start investigating.
We hid behind the same boxes I hid behind. That's when we heard a loud, high pitched scream. Henry and I looked at each other with wide eyes. I texted Lana telling her to call the cops. Right as I sent the text I heard a phone go off. I peeked over the boxes and saw something that made me want to scream. In fact, I did.
