Sam stood up from where he had perched himself on my bed. "Do you want to go grab a coffee or something? get to know each other a little better?" He asks, shuffling his feet nervously. I shrug. "Yeah sure. Let me just call Cindy - tell her I can't make it" I sigh. He nods and exits my bedroom.

I slide my phone out of my pocket and scroll through my contacts until I find Cindy's name pop up. The phone rang twice before she lazily answered with a confused "Hello?". "Hey Cind" I say, disappointment in my tone. "Oh my god what time is it!?... I overslept" She sighed. "Don't wor..." I started before being interrupted by Cindy's frantic speech" I'll get up now and I can be ready in ten". "Cind, Calm down! I can't make it" I reply. "Oh... uh, why?" She asks sadly. "It's a long, crappy story" I sigh. "AJ, tell me" She says. "OK. OK. Bobby is sending me off with these guys he's known for awhile, for a... uhm... job type thing" I say, twisting the truth slightly. "AWAY?!" She tells. "Yeah. I don't know when I'll next get to see you" I say. "Oh" She replied. "Well uh... have a good time". "I'll call you as often as I can, and when I come back to town. You're going to be the first place I go, OK?". I felt awful. I'm leaving behind my best-friend. We only had each other and I was about to abandon her. "Yeah. That sounds great... Anyway, I've got to go. So I'll see ya around" She says. "Bye" I reply and she hangs up the phone. I sigh and put my phone away as I make my way down the stairs and into the lounge.

"Ready?" I ask, slinging my bag over my shoulder. Sam nods and smiles at his feet. "You can take my truck out front" Bobby says, throwing the keys in my direction. "Thanks!" I smile and make my way to the truck, getting into the drivers side. "Where ya thinking of going?" I asked. He shrugged. "Any decent coffee shops round here to get a drink?" He asks. I nod "I know a place.

We sat at one of the tables in the little coffee shop I drove us to with two cups of coffee in front of us. "I don't know what to talk about" I laugh awkwardly. "It's an awkward situation I know" He laughs back. "You're telling me!" I shake my head still giggling. "You get used to the awkward meetings eventually" He shrugs, taking a sip of his coffee.

"Do you know why Bobby wants me to go with you guys so badly?" I say, changing the tone of the conversation. "In our world, the bad things out there - they know about you. They know Bobby has a weakness, and your it" He says, looking deep into my eyes. "He needs to know you can protect yourself, or at the very least, that your with people that can protect you". "I can protect myself" I growl. "Yeah... against a human. These things, they're not human, they can do things you can't even imagine. And you need to know how to kill each and every one of them" He replied, talking quieter at the end. I exhale deeply. "Look. Protecting and saving people. It's mine and Dean's job". I shrug again. "Just hard to just pick up everything and go on the run" I reply, sipping at my coffee again. "Thats why you leave everything at home" He jokes. I laugh slightly "You've got a point there".

"So why do you do it?" I ask. "Huh?" "This... Travel the country to hunt things that could kill you?". He sighed, gulping the last bit of his coffee. "Let's just say this, something happened when I was a kid, and it got my dad obsessed with this life. It's all I've ever known, travelling up and down the country, jumping around schools, losing people... Thats the life" He chuckles. "That must have sucked" I felt awful for asking. "Sometimes yeah, but... it has its perks too" He nods. "What are those then?" I curiously ask. "I mean, who can say they've saved probably hundreds of people from death?" He says smiling. "Thats true" I agree. "And You meet some really... amazing people. Like Bobby" He says, gesturing towards me. "And you" he smiles. "Yeah, because I've been a ray of sunshine so far, haven't I" I shake my head laughing. "You'll come round" He nods. "I wouldn't be so sure" I laugh back, causing him to shrug.
