As we drove down the road, pushing 30mph, we added on many following zombies but as we went on they just faded out of sight. A few times we got surrounded and had to stab out the windows. This wasn't too hard but it got scary at times, as we almost got stuck due to build up.
After about 45 minutes of this, we finally made it to the middle school. It was just as I remembered it, there seemed to be no damage to windows or doors.
"When we go in," I said, "we need to move in a group. One person in the lead, two people covering the sides and someone in the back."
"Do you see that?!" Whispered Ranae, pointing up to the top floor.
"No...?"
"There was a light! We need to get up there!"
As she finished, we heard a scream and the slam of a door. Ranae sprinted over and threw open the door, running blind into a large bulding. Great. We followed after and heard more screaming, this time more clearly. As we followed up the stairs we saw Ranae stabbing at a horde of zomies crowding the door to Mr.Hofman's room. We couldn't possibly win by running in with our knives!
"In here!" I called them over to Derenzy's room, " Let's go!"
We all ran into the room and shut the door, breathing heavily from having run up the stairs. I flicked the lights on turned around, making sure we were all in the room. Everyone was in there, including Ann.
"Brad..." James grabbed my shoulder and turned me to the back of the room where Linea was kneeling over Ranae... I walked over and set next to Linea, observing the damage. Ranae had a bite on her forearm but she was unconscious already. After a few minutes, Linea leaned over and began to cry on my shoulder, we just sat there for a while until she stopped crying and I layed out a bed for her with the foldable cushion things that the teacher kept at the of the room. She fell asleep quick and Chris walked over to Ranae and did the deed of ending it.
James was stacking filing cabinets in front of the door so that we could open it and start killing the zombies.
"Let's do it." He said, throwing the door open. I whistled and they started piling up in front of the door and one by one he killed them with duel knives that i didn't even know he had. After about an hour he turned to me and said we were clear to leave the room. By then it was day and I could see just fine. The halls were empty. James, Chris and I lifted the filing cabinets and studied the halls, making sure there is no danger. I hadn't noticed before but Chris looked devastated, Ranae meant a lot to him. He was strong though and I knew he would be fine.
James led the way as we cautiously walked down to Hofman's to meet whoever had screamed. "Hello?" I asked through the door.
"Who's there?" Asked a deep voice. Judging by the depth of his voice, he did not scream.
"We're friendly." I told him. "Can I come in? Don't worry, they're gone now."
"Yes, you can."
I slowly opened the door and peeked my head through. It was a group. A man, a bunch of my old friends and a little girl. She was the one who screamed.
"I am Brad Nelson. I am here with my own group, we are friendly. We just lost one of our own so please don't ask."
After that, we introduced our groups and told our stories, The rest was kind of a blur because I was so tired. When I woke up I was about five feet from Linea who was still the same as when I left her the night before. It was still day but maybe five hours later, maybe noon. I stood up, yawned and walked over to Linea. She looked fine, she was actually smiling so I figured she was dreaming, so i let her sleep.
