The Little Hope
"I'm here to see Doctor Caine." Tommie said to the nurse.
"Is it Doctor Damon or Doctor Stephen?" the nurse replied with a question.
"I will take it from here." an old man's voice spoke as he put the papers he is carrying on the front desk. "Please continue this for me." he said to the nurse.
"Good morning." he said in a formal tone.
"Good morning to you as well." the old man in white coat smiled. "Follow me." he added.
He just followed around with his mind in complete gray. He doesn't even know what came into his mind to get himself to come to the place where he hates the most. Maybe he has this little hope of getting himself cured and maybe to pursue the happiness he would like to have with her. Maybe there is a little hope. A miracle if he must believe it.
The old man knocked on a glass door then pushed it open. "Doctor Caine, a patient is here to see you."
"Hi dad.."
Tommie heard the voice and he immediately know who it was. What he could not believe was that the old man is Damon's dad. They don't look alike at all.
"Let him come in.."
He heard Damon and the older Doctor Caine motioned him to come inside and he followed.
"I'll leave you boys, okay? I still have patients to visit." then the older Doctor Caine left.
Tommie stared at Damon with a blank face. Yet the person across the table seems to find him entertaining.
"Why are you smiling?" he asked.
"I did not expect you were easy to get." Damon answered.
"Look, if you want to help me then don't laugh at me. I don't find anything amusing or funny. Being here makes me sick already." he answered back. As much as he wants to walk out of the room, he has to swallow his pride for now.
"Oh well.. I'm sorry.." Damon cleared his throat, "But if you're going to be my patient. You have to get used to being treated like how I treat my patients. No exemptions Tommie."
"Okay. Good. I have no problem with that." Except that my pride is being beaten and bruised. His mind whispered.
"You give me hope, The strength, the will to keep on; No one else can make me feel this way. And only you, can bring out all the best I can do; I believe you turn the tide. And make me feel real good inside." she started to sing while the bride slowly walked down the aisle with a smile.
And how amazing would it feel to be married to the man you truly love; she thought. And in the middle of the lyrics that she is singing, she thought of him. When will they ever have their 'til death do us part vows?
Emily gets hired sometimes as wedding singer because of her best friend Bret who keeps her posted with freelance jobs. And yeah, she is quite happy with the set up.
"You pushed me up. When I'm about to give up; You're on my side when no one seems to listen. And if you go,you know the tears can't help but show. You'll break this heart and tear it apart; Then suddenly the madness starts"
Then she took a deep breath and sang the chorus as if she's singing it to the man that holds her heart.
"It's your smile, your face, your lips that I miss, those sweet little eyes that stare at me. And make me say, I'm with you through all the way. 'Cause it's you who fills the emptiness in me; It changes ev'rything, you see, when I know I've got you with me. You pushed me up when I'm about to give up; You're on my side when no one seems to listen. And if you go, you know the tears can't help but show. You'll break this heart and tear it apart; Then suddenly the madness starts....."
While her world was slowly becoming whole; his was breaking apart. He loves her and that is something that shouldn't be doubted. Everything that Damon told him, he couldn't remember clearly. All he knows is that he is going to die like how his mother died.
