EPILOGUE
BEAUTIFUL bride, that was what Deejay was in her lovely wedding dress. Ahrkhei couldn’t even take his eyes off of her for a moment.
It was a perfect beach wedding. Ginanap iyon sa Mystic Landia beach resort. Hindi naiwasan ang pagdating ng press dahil sa mga dating koneksyon ng Daddy at Mommy ni Ahrkhei sa media.
Umuwi ang Mommy ni Deejay at ang dalawang kapatid nito. Denice Joyce was her maid of honor and Angelo was the best man. Karlo was the drop-dead handsome photographer, and one of the groomsmen, too.
Ahrkhei stared at the enchanting vision at the far end of the aisle. Suddenly, he remembered the first time he saw Deejay here. How he felt the sweat popping out on his brow. How his internal temperature became off the charts as he watched her damned gown shifted and moved against her sexy body. At first he thought it was just pure lust. Well, he was wrong, because Deejay had eventually become the center of his universe.
“Why are you so restless?” bulong ni Gelo kay Ahrkhei habang pinagmamasdan niya ang naglalakad na bride sa gitna ng aisle.
“I can’t wait to kiss the bride,” ganting bulong niya dito.
“Man! You are in deep shit. Kawawa ka kay Deejay. She’s a cunning little witch,” natatawang komento nito.
“I’m more than glad to stay under her spell forever.”
Pagtapat ni Deejay sa harap nila ay tinapunan nito ng matalim na tingin si Gelo bago nito ikinapit ang kamay sa braso niya. “Ano'ng pinag-uusapan ninyo?”
“Nagpupustahan kami kung ano ang dinadala mo. I say, it’s my Renz Karlo, junior.”
“I say, you keep quiet and focus on our wedding vows.”

KARLO took a close-up picture of the happy newlyweds. Isa-isa din niyang kinuhanan ang bawat miyembro ng entourage. Pagtapat niya sa bridesmaid na kapartner niyang nagmartsa kanina ay nginitian siya agad nito.
“Have we met before?”
“I don’t think so,” tipid na sagot niya dito. “Smile…” Pinindot niya ang camera.
“Are you sure? You smell and feel familiar.”
Tumaas ang kilay niya sa sinabi nito. “Feel? You mean, you think I’ve already touched you before the wedding march even started? That was definitely not me. Excuse me.”
Two lousy past relationships could make a man allergic to women like this. He had no intention of walking through another one of their booby traps.
Nilingon niya si Ahrkhei. He looked so happy beside his pretty bride. Some guys had all the luck, and he was, unfortunately, not one of them.
“Puwede mo ba akong kuhanan din ng litrato?”
Nilingon ni Karlo ang may-ari ng malamyos na tinig na iyon. A petite girl was standing behind him. Nakasuot ito ng uniporme ng catering service. No wonder her voice sounded familiar. Ito ang makulit na serbidora na sunod nang sunod sa kanya noon sa Party of Destiny. Tinignan niya ito mula ulo hanggang paa. She was cute. Pretty, in fact. Pero mukha itong wala pang kamuwang-muwang sa mundo.
“Let me guess… Mhyrtle, right?
Ngumiti ito, exposing her complete set of pearly white teeth.“Hello again, Karlo. Sabi ko na nga ba, mas guwapo ka kapag walang maskara.”
“Nice to see you again, Mhyrtle. Excuse me.”
“Sandali! Kahit isang picture lang, please. Regalo mo na lang iyon sa eighteenth birthday ko.”
He sighed. Alam na niya kung gaano kakulit ang babaeng ito. Natitiyak niyang hindi siya nito tatantanan hanggang hindi niya ito pinagbibigyan. “Okay. At the count of three…”
Kumislap ang camera.
“Three na ba?” nagkamot ito ng kilay.
“Stolen shots are better. Have a nice day, Mhyrtle.” Tinalikuran na niya ito.
Nilapitan niya si Ahrkhei at tinapik sa balikat. "Congratulations, bro. Can I kiss my sis-in-law?”
Sakto pa lamang na lumapat ang mga labi niya sa pisngi ni Deejay ay hinila na ito ni Ahrkhei.
“Don’t enjoy it too much, brother,” nakangiting biro nito. “Find yourself a lovely wife, Karlo. Baka nandiyan lang siya sa paligid.” Nilingon nito ang asawa at hinagkan sa mga labi. “I love my brother, but I love you so much more.”
“I love you, too, more than anything in this world.”
“Damn! Hold that display of affection until I’m done with you.” Itinaas ni Karlo ang camera at kinuhanan sila.
