3 weeks later

They always say that thing about cold feet on your wedding day.. ‘it’s just nerves’ oh no, this, this is frozen feet and much more than nerves.  I’m terrified of getting married..

“Who’s getting married today?!”  Ugh, that horrible screeching is Matt’s sister Chloe, running into my room at goodness knows...8am.  How did she even get a key?!

I poke my head out of the covers so just a slither of my eyes are on show.  Her hand grabs the covers dragging them off my body.

My wedding...

“Oh my god. It’s my wedding..” I chuckle in disbelief but the disbelief is quickly followed by a rush of familiar doubt and nerves.

Despite all that I flick the covers back and rush over staring at the light piece of material she’s holding to her body.

“You’re going to look beautiful!  Now, there’s a few things to sort before you get to wear this!”

“And they are?” I snip far too sourly than I intended

“Make up, hair, the rest of the packing for honeymoon and...something else but I remember...” her excited ramble trails off leaving me wondering what this something else is.

However the bigger matter in hand growls turbulently in my stomach

“I need food first..” I mutter, watching as she flutters off leaving me to drag my jeans and top on.

I’m quickly looking at the breakfast menu hiding my face from Chloe’s prying eyes.  Just as I find the perfect meal to settle the beast of hunger my phone goes off...how great.

“Evie!” The scream of my name hurts my ears, averting my attention.

“Chloe! Jaysus, that hurt my ears!” I groan, looking for her. Before I can reach my phone she grabs it.

“You sounded so much like your brother just then!  This better not be him or Matt!” her eyes scan the message but stop suddenly. Her expression glazes over into a hard glare.

“What’re you doing?!” I was with annoyance at her intrusion of my privacy

“We don’t need to look at texts, you need to get ready! This horrible red hair...mop needs to go.”

I grumble a half arsed reply at her not so subtle insult but follow her order to sit down anyway.  I can’t believe she’s going to be my sister in law.  God help me if I have kids, I’ll never get to be a mum. . .

A mother. Oh...ouch.  I don’t like that, that horrible twisting pain in my stomach at the memory.  If things had worked out I’d be a mum... and Glen would be a dad...Glen.  More pain ohh no.

“Evie are you ok?”

A warm fleck of liquid drops onto my hand I’m crying...fuck sake.

“You’re crying! What’s up?!”

I’ve had enough, too many feelings I don’t want! I mental shriek and hurry off to the on suite, flopping down onto the floor in a heap.  The twisting doesn’t stop, flashes of Glen pass in my head.

“Evie?  Talk to me.. Is it Glen?”

What?  I push off the ground and lurch over to the door flinging it open.

“What do you know about him?!  Why did you say that?” I snarl at her, the red hot anger throwing its weight around.

“Calm down, Matt told me this might happen.  It’s ok, he won’t ruin the wedding...”
