Ruby Saw Jaune, Nora, and Ren as soon as she got off the bus. She ran towards them and was picked up by Nora into a big bear hug. "Guys its so great to see you again!" Ruby squeled.
REN sighed. "You just saw us yesterday."
"What? Really? because it seems like a lot longer than that. Like at least a few months.
"Oh," Nora started."That's because 7A is lazy and always forgets about this story" Nora's friends ignore her. They've become numb to her crazy insistence that the world they live in is a poorly written fanfic by depressed teenage girl. It begins raining on the group and they scurry to the shelter of the courtyard trees. The rain doesn't seem to effect the Cool Kids(trade mark). They remain in their pack, leaning on their cars and talking about nothing.
"So then I said: No, there's no way that guy would eat that freaking bagel, but then, literally two seconds later, he picks it up and takes a bite!" Sun tells the group, with dramatic emphasis. Under his arm is Blake, who has forgotten all her complaints about Sun and seems to be his gal. Yang takes notice of this quickly, forgetting to ask Blake why she didn't show up this morning. Riding the bus with Rubes wasn't bad though. They've continued their sisterhood bonding, much to the delight of Tia and Qrow.
To add salt into the cuts Blake's distance caused, Weiss is back to being a rigid ice queen. Sporting designer glasses and a scowl, she hasn't spoken to anyone all morning. The news of her stolen car spread like lice and she's been fallowed by hush whispers since she arrived at school. Yang decided to give her space to let her anger cool. Still, the pain of both her best friends ignoring her has taken its toll. To cheer herself up Yang makes her way to Ruby and her friends. Rain falls down and claims her as it's property as she moves across the lot.
When Yang arrives at the gang's perch she is surprised that she actually understands what their talking about. Jaune has just gotten the new Fight Ally game and is being judged for his character choice. Yang easily slips into the conversation unnoticed and has furiously agreed with all of Nora's points. "Guys seriously, all you need is a heavy hitter is the tournament is won!" Yang states, with her blood rising.
Ren shakes his head. "Unless you use all your energy in the beginning and have nothing towards the end. In game, just in life, you must play cleverly and down-low. Therefore, a thief or a ninja is the best routine."
"No, dude, just listen." Jaune tells him. "You need armor over stealth. If you get caught hiding, it's all over. But armor is always useful, weather it be for protection from long range or close range. And, nothing beats a sword. Knights are the best, plain and simple."
"Expect for when your weapon gets taken by a trap move! Knights can't fight hand to hand because of their armor and nothing in stealth class can take a hit!" Nora yells, waking the birds in the tree. They fly away in surprise, causing the branches to shake. Drops of water splash on the kids. The debate is forgotten as they laugh at each other's misfortune.
"We better get going, the bell will ring soon." Ruby leads the group to the school. They enter right as the bell rings and the day officially starts. Weiss and Ruby meet in their science room. Much to Ruby's surprise, Weiss sits with her without being told. The period goes good, they talk like friends as they finish another lab, the part two of yesterday's. Weiss' terrible mood seems to have disappeared from this morning.
Then Neon comments on the events from yesterday. "Hey, princess, did your car really get stolen or did it actually just runaway from you?" Flynt hushes her but the damage is done. As soon as the bell sounds, Weiss snatches her things and storms off. Ruby fallows after her, gifting Neon a stern glare as she goes.
"Maybe I went too far." Neon admits. She rests her head in shame.
Flynt scoffs. "Don't worry too much about it. Ice Queen's rude to everyone, she can take a little from someone for a change. Plus, her dad will just buy her another one, because 'His little princess deserves it'."
Once she arrived in the ladies room, Weiss throws her sunglasses in the sink and lets herself cry in the mirror. Ruby quietly enters shortly after. She watches awkwardly as Weiss cries, not knowing what to do. Eventually, she finds her words. "W-" Ruby begins but doesn't finish. Just at that moment Weiss lifts her head and Ruby sees a deep bruise engulfing Weiss' lift eye. If she wasn't such a mess, Weiss would've grabbed her glasses and spun a tail of slippery socks and a doorknob. But because she was scared and Ruby was always so nice, Weiss dropped into Ruby's arm and told her everything.
Ruby stood still and listened while Weiss described how furious her farther was when he got the call from the police. Ruby could hear him yelling to Weiss. "Of course a little rat like you would be so stupid that you left your goddamn car unlocked!" She could feel Weiss' pain when her farther struck her. If Ruby had been more reckless, she would've taken her marshal arts skills directly to Weiss' farther.
When Weiss calmed down, Ruby found her voice again. "Weiss, you have to tell someb-"
Weiss was swift with a lie. "I did, don't worry. My sister knows and promised she'll handle it." Ruby nods, fully convinced. Weiss collects her things and takes Ruby's arm in hers, feeling no shame in doing so because the two had just became closer than once thought possible. "Let's go before we miss third period. Are you free for lunch."
As their voices fade, Emerald emerges from her stall. She takes a long, hard look at herself in the mirror. If she had know yesterday afternoon that Weiss lives in the same type of situation she used to, she still would've taken the chance for money. The fact shakes her to the core but a facts a fact, nothing that can be changed. The only thing she remembers in school is the that theory of natural selection states the fittest survive.
