Adit:
I dropped Dev at the doorstep of his house and left. That was the second big mistake I had committed in my life. I shouldn't have left him alone, at any cost.
My first mistake was still haunting me in the form of a scary nightmare. And then this second mistake happened...
Its consequences were yet to be seen. But I was pretty sure something bad was going to happen. Again. Just like the last time.
13th november 2012 it was. And that sinful day marked a drastic change in all our lives. Sadly enough, those marks were supposed to be permanent. They were meant forever.
I joined Hindu Rao hospital as a budding cosmetic surgean. Bigger surgeries were still not meant for me back then. My career had started within the limits of stiching the cuts and wounds of patients, maximum of whom were over-emotional, over-dramatic teens who dropped to the hospital every now and then with a dissected wrist. Some injuries were small whereas the others were so serious that those patients had to be admitted in the hospital for that day. And I was supposed to make field reports based on their recovery and improvement.
The job was hectic. But life was good. Life was settling bit by bit everyday and it felt surreal to see the years of hard work taking colours.
Besides that, I had found two gem of friends for myself- Dev and Kshitiz. These two crazy people added new dimensions to frienship. Life had to be good with them.
I still remember how I met Dev.
Dr. Dev Bose, cardiologist of Hindu Rao hospital, was as sweet as the rasgulla itself. His charms knew no bound. His patients were always glued to him as if with fevicol. Even my mom was attracted to him like anything. Attraction is an understatement though, she had went ga-ga over him on their first meeting. That was the charishma of our very adorable, cute and handsome bengali boy. He was always effortlessly perfect.
I had met this perfect man at the gateway of our hospital. There he was standing for me with a boque of yellow sandflowers and a warm, affectionate smile. It felt little weird at first. We hardly knew each other but he was still there to welcome me! I tried to recall if I knew him somehow, but failed miserably. It was only few days later when I came to know about this strange yet beautiful feature of Dev. He used to greet everyone with his favourite flowers and a hearty smile. Everyone means literally everyone, starting from newbies to doctors on farewell, his patients, attendants, helping stuffs... everyone. That was how he was. Different. Walking mainstream was never in his genes.
And then there was Kshitiz Arora, who became friend to me through Dev. He was the young professor of DMC, who used to toil all his female students on his fingertips. He was blessed with good looks and it was something which he boasted about and considered as his privilege. Dev was right, Kshitiz was really an womanizer and he knew it very well by himself. But he was least bothered with this tag and so was I.... until I came to know that he was in relation with our Nitara.
I always respected Kshitiz otherwise. He was a man of great will and efforts. He had achieved a lot at a very young age. And as for friendship terms, he had high spirits in it too. Atleast it was there for me. That was why he informed me about his relation with Nitara, but never mentioned anything to his buddy, Dev.
His decision was wasn't wrong infact. Telling Dev about that relationship would have broken him into pieces. He was bound to break becoz he was hopelessly and helplessly in love with Nitara.
But at the end of the day, he was an idiot. Neither he understood about his love, nor did he try to confess it. And that was where Kshitiz got the chance of grabbing his opportunity.
