Nitara:

"You are pregnant?" Raima repeated my words in a daze.

"Yes, I am." I smiled.

"For how long?"

"Three weeks now."

"Uh... I see." She paused and looked down. But sprang up with another question the next moment. "Who is the father?"

"That doesn't matter!" Rhyming and all eh?

"What does that mean?" She rolled her eyes animatedly.

"Well, techniqually its Dev. But I don't think that donating a sperm can make someone 'father'. So yeah, the child is mine and MINE ONLY!!" I boasted proudly.

"When did this happen?"

"Happened one night.. it was supposed our 'most awaited night', but I was wrong. It was the most sinful night of my life.. its okay though. Shit happens sometimes, isn't it?"

"Dev knows?"

"Maybe.. I don't know." I shrugged.

"What?"

"The morning that followed that night, he woke up that morning forgetting everything. Alcohol effect as he said... or maybe he remembered it all but was just pretending, being afraid to acknowledge this promixity...... whatever it is, at first he said that nothing happened between us that night and then when he got to know yesterday that I am pregnant, he denied this child to be his. That's it- end of the story!"

Raima absorbed my words slowly and then came up with a conclusion few minutes later.
"How can he be such a moron?" She zapped.

"See, your choices can be wrong too!" I chuckled.

"He always seemed to be a perfect gentleman. How will I know that he is even worser than that Shitiz Arora?!!" Another pause. Both of us remained silent, me smiling and she frowning. "Anyway, why are you still willing to keep this baby?"

"Becoz this baby is mine! I just said it Rai!!"

"Oh hello, its not your responsibilty alone. Why bear this burden? Just chuck it okay..abort it and get a life yourself!"

Her words ignited fire in whole body. How dare she utter something like this for my baby?!
"Raima, dare not say this again okay? This child is mine and I am gonna give him birth... so please, if you can't respect my child don't disrespect him too...don't compare him with a commodity atleast!" I warned her.

"You are shouting at me for something that is yet.."

"Unborn?" I completed her line. "That doesn't matter Raima. But you won't get it till you become a mother yourself... you won't understand that a child is long born in its mother's heart before it actually lands on this earth!"

"Do you even know what you are saying?" Her narrow eyes stared at me with disbelief.

"Totally. But seems that you don't know what YOU are saying. Work on that first and if possible, learn to support your bestfriend's decisions!!"

"Alright! If this is what you want then let it be this way.." She threw her hands in air and chucked. "But how do you know its a 'he'?" She frowned as if I was chauvinist! Eww!!

"Random guess" I frowned back and continued "...but yeah, I'll be happier if its a 'she', a mini me I'll get then!"

This simple phrase -a mini me- did the macro job of painting my cheeks dark scarlet. It was all my baby's effect. She had already started taking care of her mommy in her personal way!
