It was never about the wounds on the outside. It was those strings, on the very inside that held on for dear life. It was those scars that marked her as a fighter.
Made her different from the rest.
It was her story to tell. But he won't give up un...

Alexus felt the panic push past the last barrier. It was rushing through her veins. Clawing out and letting her know what fate awaited her. It made her feel sick. Too sick to even consider her next move.
Her fingers felt numb as she failed to enter the right password. It had been five minutes since she started trying. Part of her wanted to never get it right but another part of her was dying to know. Dying a little with every minute that passed.
"Damn it. Please work!" Alexus once again pleaded.
The clock ticked on and it was half past two when her phone began to ring. She ignored it and tried once again with barely any hope left. It was hard not to let those tears fall. Hard not to throw her head back and let out all the sorrow.
The tears were cold as they fell on the laptop. The dampness another cause for those memories to come flooding back. The scarred hands which had carried her were long gone. Another source of warmth had been snatched away from her.
" Another sin written down with blood. Another mark has been left. Another day has passed by. Will your soul ever find rest?" Alexus whispered.
At that moment the school website loaded and her world turned dark. Her pictured stared back at her. It was from earlier this week. When everything was perfect and it felt like nothing could go wrong.
She scrolled past it and clicked on the attached article. The first three words made her blood turn cold. It felt powerful and convincing. Like it was forcing her to believe in the short story. The short story of the very start of her life.
" Alexus Martin. Just another girl you meet at high school. Just another girl with perfect grades. But how long can anything remain new? How long can a building be the star attraction of the people?" Alexus began to read out loud.
Alexus was not perfect. She had a lot of flaws. A lot of scars. A lot of words that she would have died to scream out. She was damaged art. But she knew that the battle scars made her who she was today.
She had fallen down the ladder a couple of times. Bruised her hands and knees along the rocks. Almost given up and turned away from the coast. However she was like a wanderer who would not give up until she found a place to rest.
"Who could have guessed where she actually came from? Where she was raised ? A perfect family perhaps, is where you imagined she'd come from. Well that's only a tale that a liar can make up. Only a tale to cover up the truth." Alexus continued.
Alexus looked around the room. It was cramped up with a king sized bed in the centre. To the left was a bookshelf filled with novels for all ages. To the right was a study table that was piled high with textbooks and neatly covered notebooks.
The walls were painted with a pale shade of green. Posters of different fictional characters and musicians covered one of the walls. The other one had framed pictures of an old women with a smiling teenager.
" It is not for me to give you any of these answers. It's not my story to tell. But this is what the world has to still find out. The people need to know who to trust. She needs to put the monster on a tight leash." Alexus finished reading.
Alexus shut the computer and for a few moments she focused on her past. She focused on a monster she had let loose. A monster who had taken lives like it had cost nothing. It was cold hearted and deadly.
Every trace of happiness in its eyes had been snatched away. Even last hope had died. She had sworn she would never let her body be used for anything filthy. But at the end of the day she was a monster. A monster with a convincing mask.
"And the last flower had fallen. The last song had been sung. The last tears had been wept. The bells from above had been rung." Alexus once again whispered.
Alexus got up from her bed before walking over to the mirror. A girl with shoulder length blonde hair stared back at her. People said she was unique for her eyes were grey with a fleck of orange and brown.
She had been blessed with a good figure but she tried to hide it well. Her first choice would always be a loose black t-shirt and slacks. She had never believed in makeup. It had always been natural beauty.
"Remember Alexus. She is beauty. She is grace. And if you hurt her then she will punch you in the face." Alexus told herself.
But a part of her was still scared to face her old demons. She knew the game was dangerous. The fire was spreading on the ground she chose to walk on. Everything around her smelt like death.
Every little move counted. A check mate was what she needed. A gap in this mystery. She had to get her hands on this person. She was not a girl to go down easily. Not one who had been taught how to give up. She would fight.
"My past is not who I am. I am not the girl who hoped. I am the girl who made it happen. I'm the girl who showed them what I could do." Alexus repeated.
The door to her bedroom had been left ajar. An old lady had pushed it open and walked in. She held an envelope in her wrinkled hand. It was no surprise to see a smile on her face. She had overhead all of it.
"This came for you. I have no idea when or who delivered it. Maybe the name of the sender is inside. However it was left on the doormat." The lady said.
Alexus had no choice but to think of the worst. The person had been quick enough to play the second card. Now it was her turn to turn the tables over. Her turn to return victorious.
