I got dressed in a loosed, white-cottoned sleeveless top, with a bold inscription of BLACK on the front. I tucked the shirt in a skinny jeans and wrapped my waist with a black belt, pushing my mid-parted hair to the back as I walked to my vanity.
I did a light makeup and wore my stud silver earrings. I then proceeded to my wardrobe, took out my white sneakers from the shoe rack and slid them on.
I grabbed my phone from the bed, but before leaving the room, I dialed his number.
I waited with the phone to my ear, and he picked up after the fourth ring.
"This early, sweetheart?"
I rolled my eyes, hating the pet name all over again, even more than I did before. "Good morning to you, too," I said.
He chuckled. "What's up?"
"I'm going out, that's what's up. And being the nicest person that I know I am, I'm giving you a heads up, so you don't get disappointed when you show up unannounced." A satisfied smile danced on my lips as I made it known to him that I could have a social life without him, and the thought of him showing up at my house and going back dissapointed almost made me laugh.
"How nice of you. And where are you going?"
"To meet up with friends." I ignored his earlier sarcasm.
"Didn't know you had other friends aside Natasha." He sounded jealous.
"Remember Abel?" I gladly indulged him. "The guy you met the other day." I rolled my lips to hold back laugher.
"Right, of course," he said, the jealous tone now mixed with a pinch of anger, and I could imagine his eyes rolling.
"Don't tell me you still haven't gotten over what happened," I pressed on, with a pretentious tone of innocence and sympathy, palming my mouth this time as the laughter threatened to erupt.
He let out a humourless chuckle. "Just have fun."
The call went off, and instead of laughing my heart out over my success in getting him upset, I started to feel bad. But it only proved that I had a heart and he didn't, because he had many times toiled with my feelings, and I wanted to show him that I can also play his stupid game. I shoved the phone in my jeans pocket.
"Sorry, not sorry, William," I muttered to myself as I headed downstairs.
I met Mum in the living room, already set for work.
"And where are you off to?" she asked, her stare filled with surprise as she slowly put down her cup of tea on the center table.
I walked up to her with a pleading face and took a seat next to her on the couch.
"Abel and Sandra got back yesterday evening, and... I was hoping you'd give me a ride there."
She sighed. "See why you should have your own car?"
"You'll miss having me in your car by the time I have mine, so enjoy the moment." I used my adulthood manipulation on her, which always worked because I was her one and only. Literally.
"You're growing up too fast." She cupped my cheeks in her palms before pulling me in a tight squeeze.
I giggled. "So is that a yes?"
She released me. "Yes, dear. I'll take you."
"Thank you!" I got up and started hurrying towards the stairs.
"Hey! Where are you going?"
I stopped and turned around. "To get Morphy. I can't leave him here alone."
