"Calm down." He held out his hands, miming the phrase, but mostly preventing a possible punch from me.
"Calm down? Really? I told you I needed time and you agreed to it!" I yelled in panic, running temperature in the jeans and light T-shirt that shouldn't generate this much heat on a normal day.
"Nope." He dropped his hands. "What I recall was you agreeing with me that it didn't matter when."
I stared at him with a confused face, and then it hit me.
"It doesn't matter when. What matters is you being by my side, right?"
"Right."
"Are you kidding me?" I growled through my teeth after recalling the end of our last conversation on the matter.
"Hey, I saved you from the haunting thoughts of making a decision for God knows how long that would have taken."
I made to respond, but then I turned around with a groan, in search of the button to whine down my window.
"Uh... what are you doing?" I heard him ask and made a sharp turn in his direction.
"I'm hot!" I yelled in his face.
"But, of course, you are," he complimented.
I sighed, preserving my cool. "I mean I'm feeling hot, I need to breathe, I need air." I rushed my words, gesturing like a crazy person.
"Yeah, right!" He exaggerated his pretense, and I rolled my eyes. "But, uhm... the AC is still running..." he trailed off, holding back a laugh.
"Oh." I flushed, feeling the chilled air all of a sudden. He snorted. I shot him a glare, and he rolled his lips. "I'm not finding this funny at all. You should have at least given me a heads up."
"You didn't give me a heads up about meeting your dad either," he fired back, and my eyes widened.
"Oh, so it's pay back now? You're so impossible, William. I so much hate you right now." I averted my gaze to the flamingo that was more pleasing to watch at the moment, folding my arms across my chest.
"Just breathe..."
I abruptly turned in his direction with a glare. "Don't you think I would have dropped dead by now if I haven't been doing that?"
He looked away, but I caught his white teeth that were displayed in amusement.
"William," I growled.
He cleared his throat and faced me. "I'm sorry."
I sighed and leaned my back on my seat, releasing the anger that didn't provide any solution. "Let's just go, and maybe, come back later?"
"That's absurd, we're here already, we can't just go back."
I frowned. "What's absurd is you bringing me here without my consent."
"But you agre-"
I cut off his sentence with a glare.
"Okay," he said, nodding, with small amusement on his face. "I'm sorry."
"Your house is gigantic and pretty by the way," I said, still frowning.
He chuckled, turning off the car. "Thanks," he said, then looked at me. "So, shall we?"
"Now...?" I asked, feeling anxious all over again. He replied with a smile as he opened his door, climbed out of the car, and closed the door gently.
My heart started pounding hard in my chest. "Help me, God, help me, God..." I kept muttering with my eyes closed, and then I opened my eyes when I heard my door open.
