Enoch was sulking in his room for no reason. He shouldn't be jealous that Olive was spending time with Noah. Miss Peregrine had asked her to show him around, it's not like she was doing this willingly. But still he felt jealous. He enjoyed Olive's company and missed her when she was gone but he was too stubborn to ever tell her this. There was a knock at his door and Olive's cheerful voice followed.

"Want to play a game? Noah's outside with the boys and I wanted to see you."

Enoch smiled and sat opposite Olive on his bed. They did this most days and spoke about random things together, the time always flying. It was so easy to talk to Olive and she enjoyed making him happy, his grumpy demeanour putting most people off trying to talk to him. After about an hour, they walked down to dinner together and sat in their usual places, Enoch was at the head of the table, opposite Miss Peregrine and Olive was on his left. There were no spare places so Miss P asked Noah to put a spare chair next to someone and what a surprise - he had to sit right between Olive and Enoch.

Enoch gave him deaths stares for the entire meal, to which Noah replied with sly smiles which really got on Enoch's nerves. Olive seemed oblivious to the looks the two boys were giving each other and chatted with everyone about everything as usual. Olive and Emma were on washing up duty so Enoch made his way upstairs to wait for Olive in his room. Noah must have gone up before him because the new boy was standing in front of Enoch's door, smirking.

Enoch rolled his eyes and asked Noah to move, to no avail.

"Waiting for Olive are we?" Noah mocked.
Enoch folded his arms and became protective.

"I'm waiting for Olive, you're going to move out of the way."

Noah shook his head and tutted.
"Why so defensive? You've hated me since I've arrived and now you don't like me spending time with Olive," Noah asked.
Enoch huffed and pondered on how to answer.

"Olive likes spending with me. Go make your own friends."
Enoch sounded harsh and wondered if he was being a bit mean, even for his standards but then remembered the way Noah acted when he didn't think he was being watched so stood his ground.

"I heard from Olive that you're just her friend so there's no need to get jealous now is there?" Noah's patronising tone paired with the cunning smiles made Enoch's hatred for the new boy grow increasingly. Who did he think he was to say that?
"So what if I'm just a friend, I'm her best friend and she doesn't like you or me anyway so there's nothing to be jealous of." Enoch said. He was trying to convince himself more than Noah but wasn't going to show weakness in front of someone who infuriated him so much.
"We'll see if she doesn't like me," Noah replied cockily and winked at Enoch before turning on his heel and sauntering down the stairs.
