Olive didn't know why she was doing this. Enoch was just going to laugh at her, he might not even let her in his room. But she knew she needed to. Noah trying to kiss her had really shaken her up and Olive needed to tell someone she could trust. Enoch had always been there for her.
After procrastinating outside his door for a few minutes, she finally got up the courage to knock. The door opened and she saw a messy-haired Enoch with his usual grumpy expression, waiting for her to say something, still mad from their argument this morning.
When Enoch heard the knock on his door, he was surprised he had woken up so easily. Usually he was a deep sleeper and it was a job to wake him, but tonight he was restless and had too much on his mind to sleep well.
Contemplating whether or not to open it, as he could pretend he was asleep, Enoch thought it was best to answer as it might be important. When he saw Olive, looking so frail and scared, his harsh expression softened and he stepped back to let her in. Although he hadn't spoken to her since she stormed away from him in the garden this morning, Enoch knew something was wrong and he wasn't going to be completely heartless and turn her away. Secretly he was also pleased that she had come to him with whatever was troubling her, rather than going to Noah who she seemed so eager to be spending time with recently.
He gestured for Olive to sit down on his bed but she remained standing and said,
"It's about Noah."
Enoch at first felt jealous, but then saw Olive's sad face and felt protective of her. Was it something Noah had done?
"Okay. You can tell me. Whatever it is, I promise I won't judge you."
Olive sat down on his bed and looked at the floor, fiddling with her delicate fingers the whole time she spoke."You know you told me to be careful of Noah. That he might take advantage of my kindness. I didn't listen to you because I thought you were just jealous. I didn't think you cared about me and that you didn't want me to spend time with Noah because you were being mean. I was wrong. I should have listened to you. You were trying to protect me and I was too blinded by the fact someone was showing an interest in me to follow your advice. If I hadn't had run away from you in the garden earlier then none of this would have happened."
Olive then told Enoch about Noah kissing her and what he had said. By the time she had finished, Olive was crying and her shoulders were shaking.
