"Taxi!" Lucy yelled, waving her hand out to get the driver's attention. The Taxi came to a screeching halt, splashing water onto her outfit. "Hey!" She protested.
"Sorry Miss," The driver apologized, his accent extremely audible.
Lucy scowled. "Whatever." She looked around cautiously to make sure none of Father's servants were following her before climbing into the cab. She smoothed out the wrinkles off of her button-up, white shirt, blue leather jacket and skirt.
"Where can I take you, Miss," The driver asked, chewing loudly on a piece of gum.
Lucy made a face in disgust but nonetheless answered, "Fiore High, please." She then bit her lip in anticipation. "I am going to enroll and finally become an author! I am working on a novel, you know."
The driver laughed. He seemed about sixty or seventy. "What an ambitious young lady," he chuckled.
"Yeah," Lucy said, looking out the window at the stormy sky. "All of my er— acquaintances call me that..." Lucy mentally facepalmed. How could she call them acquaintances? The people that worked at the Heartfilia estate were like family... Especially after her mother died...
She sighed... Did I make the right decision? Surely running away wasn't the only option... Was it? She thought solemnly.
She'd finally mustered up the courage to leave. Father had held her like a prisoner in that lonely mansion... keeping her cooped up from the rest of the world. Deep down, she knew that he'd become extremely paranoid after her mother's death... leading him to keep Lucy isolated. But other than that, her father was always busy making money to ever notice her. He was always too wrapped up in his riches to spend time with his only daughter. He didn't ever let her visit the community that resides in their estate and the only friends she had were the people that worked under him. Spetto, Bero, Ribbon, Aed... She would miss them, and the rest of the employees, dearly. They took care of her and comforted her when her Father never did... a father that never even remembered her birthdays.
"Ey, Miss?" The driver said loudly.
Lucy snapped back into reality and realized that the Cab had stopped.
"We've reached."
She looked out the window and almost felt her heart leap. "Fiore High..." she whispered as she stared at the legendary high school.
The Fiore Company had a whole branch of schools (ex: Fiore Elementary, Middle, Pre-K, and even Fiore University) And each one was more impressive than the next. The rain had cleared and the leftover liquid made the building and landscaping shine. There were trees lining the sidewalks, bike stands, flower bushes and most importantly: People. There were students all around—and most of them looked to be her age!
The building was amazing. It had a rustic, gothic feel to it with columns and bricks that shone in the light. The windows decorating the building brought out all its details , as well as the Medieval touches.
"Miss?" The driver said, and Lucy was appalled to here annoyance in his voice. "This is where you wanted to go, correct? So are you going to get out or not?"
Lucy rolled her eyes. "How much?"
"45 dollars." He mumbled.
45?!
"Forty-five sounds a bit pricey, no?" Her voice sounding like the squeak of a mouse. "We only traveled—"
"For around 45 minutes." The driver sounded bored. "Ain't nobody got time for free service."
