Chapter 26

"Repeat that name, ma'am," the secretary said, pulling up a directory on her computer.

"Lisanna Strauss," Lucy said again in frustration. "Please make it quick."

The secretary rolled her eyes, "No, Lucy. You asking me to find something from nearly two decades ago is not something that can be done 'quick'."

Lucy gave the familiar face an incredulous look. "How the hell are you even here, Kinana!"

The blue haired female gave her a blank look. "Honey I already told you." She leaned in. "I. Work. Everywhere."

"Natsu, this woman is crazy!" Lucy stomped her foot while her friend bluntly ignored her.

"Let her work where she wants." Natsu made a face at her. "What's it to you."

Lucy groaned, raking her fingers through her hair. "Stupid ass, dumb ass, lame ass, freak ass, smart ass, bitchy ass—"

"Would you shut up!" Kinana admonished. "I don't give a fucking damn about how many asses you have!"

Lucy's eyebrow twitched as Natsu cracked up next to her.

"Any moment now..." Lucy mumbles to herself, while rubbed her temples.

"Lucy..." Kinana said in a forlorn tone. "Problem."

Lucy glances up. "What?"

Kinana twisted the screen around so they could view it. "The closest thing I found to 'strauss' was Mirajane, Elfman and their parents."

"What...?" Lucy paled, eyes trailing down. "What do you mean?"

"Exactly what it sounded like," Natsu's voice sounded furious. "Lis... isn't on here. Which means that she wasn't born here."

"But that's impossible!" Lucy exclaimed. "Mira said she was born in Onibus!"

Kinana cleared her throat. "If I may... Mira said she was born in Onibus. Not that she was born in this specific hospital."

"But we've already checked every other one in Onibus." Lucy said. "And you said the exact same thing in the last hospital too! And the last one! And the one before that!! How do you get around so fast?? And why do you have so many jobs!"

"I can do what I want! I can make decisions!" Kinana retorted in a babyish tone. "I'm saying that maybe Lis was born... in her house...?" Kinana trialed off as she finished her sentence.

Lucy widened her eyes, "Which means... that we have to find their old house now?"

"I believe so."

"How do we find her address then?" Natsu demanded. "She doesn't even remember and I doubt Mira and Elfman will tell us crap!"

"Exactly..." Lucy mumbled.

This was hopeless. How were they supposed to find Lis's old residence if they didn't even have a solid starting point?

"Hey guys! I found something!" Kinana declared. "The Strauss's are in here, right? Well, so is their old address!"

Lucy and Natsu deadpanned at the blue haired girl, making her cower back

"You could have said that five hospitals ago," Lucy admonished while her nostrils flared. "You've wasted my precious time. You will now be eliminated."

"Woah, woah, wait!" Natsu grabbed the blonde's arm. "Your turning into Erza. Not good."

Kinana briskly copied down the address, chucking the paper in their direction before hiding behind the counter.

Lucy clutched the parchment in her fist before stomping away. "We're leaving." Natsu followed after her.
