Ms Loré stopped next to Luna's desk and watched her work. Her stripes darkened to red slightly, then reverted back to rainbow. "Please try to work faster," she growled.
Samantha gulped as Ms Loré walked past Luna's desk and stopped by hers. She tried to ignore her piercing gaze as she started to add fur.
"Fur on a ear tends to point upwards." She stated. "Try to reflect that in your drawing." Samantha inwardly sighed with relief as Ms Loré padded past.
"Hm... not bad. You might want to darken the shading around the inside of the ear a little, though." Samantha snuck another glance at Ms Loré, who was now standing to her right and next to Elena's desk, and was surprised to see that her fur had faded to a light pink.
Ms Loré trotted past. Samantha turned to Elena and mouthed, "Can I see?"
Elena smiled and held up her sketchbook. Samantha's jaw dropped. Elena put down her book and mouthed, "You?"
Samantha shrugged, smiled sheepishly and held up her book. Elena squinted at her drawing, then leaned over and whispered, "The fur inside the ear is shorter and you should shade where the inside of the ear meets the outside. Not bad, though..."
"It sucks, but thanks for being nice, though." Samantha whispered back. "But you never told me you were good at art!"
Elena shrugged. "I'm not that good," she replied. "I -"
Ms Loré turned around and squinted at the two. Samantha quickly returned to her work and tried not to look in her direction.
Elena gave her a barely perceptible shrug, as if saying, "maybe later", and returned to her sketch as well.
Samantha yawned and continued to work.

{{ Dear Mirror,
Well... I'm in the middle of art class and it's so boring. We're supposed to be drawing ears. I've drawn two but they suck and I've given up... so yeah.
Anyway, about the other two classes... English was boring. I feel bad for the teacher though. And Science was okay... the teacher was a deer, which is pretty... uncommon, I guess. The stuff we were learning was boring though.
Ugh... I'm so bored and I'm sleepy. Class ends in ten minutes, but that's ten minutes too long... Why can't class end now? At least... why can't something fun happen?
OH GOSH THERE'S A GIANT DRAGON IN THE CLASSROOM }}
Students leaped out of their seats, shrieking or gasping as a giant black dragon appeared to materialise out of nowhere. Ms Loré shot to her paws, her fur glowing an angry dark red, and barked, "Oscar!"
The dragon shrunk almost immediately. Scales changed to fur and its purple eyes stopped glowing, leaving a slightly dazed looking dark grey furred dog sitting in a broken chair.
"What was that for, Mr Drakon?!" Ms Loré confronted Oscar, her tail swishing angrily. Students around them murmured amongst themselves.
"Please return to your seats," Ms Loré instructed the class, glancing up at the clock. "Actually, you know what? Just pack up. You, Mr Drakon -"
"Sorry, it was just a mistake!" Oscar yelped. "I didn't mean to, I was just... thinking and I didn't realise I'd transformed!"
Ms Loré's red fur faded to a lighter red and she sighed. "Well, since this is the first lesson... I'll be letting you off. Please control your powers next time. Class dismissed."
Samantha shoved her books in her bag, still trying to comprehend what had happened. She joined the line of students exiting the room and caught strands of passing conversation: "Would you look at that!" "What the heck was that?!"
Elena sidled up to Samantha. "Well, what an explosive start," she commented. Samantha nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I guess so..."
They exited the classroom alongside the other students. Almost as soon as the door closed, it burst open again and Oscar loped outside, carrying his backpack over a shoulder and a huge grin on his snout. "I can't believe that act worked!" He exclaimed, chuckling to himself. "I'm a bit offended, though. She actually thought I couldn't control my powers? Hmph." He started laughing again. A few students chuckled as well, while a few strange looks were tossed his way.
Samantha shrugged and they made their way out of the crowd and to one side of the corridor. Zephyr and Luna trotted over to join them.
"That was pretty cool." Luna commented. "Did you see how angry Ms Loré was?"
"I don't think the teacher getting angry is... cool, sis," Zephyr replied. Luna rolled her eyes. "Well, deal with it, it is. Anyway, what do you guys have next?"
"Oh... Maths," Samantha replied, sneaking a peek at her timetable. "With... Mr Syne."
"Ooh, Mr Syne!" Zephyr exclaimed. "I heard he's really strict, but he's also a good teacher. Apparently. I have Mr... er, A... something. I heard that he yells a lot and he's kinda... weird."
Luna snorted. "I'm in the same class as this doofus over here." A mischievous smirk crossed her snout. "I can't wait to rile him up."
"Lu-na," Zephyr complained. "Even if you don't care about your grades, other people do, too!"
Elena chortled at the siblings bickering. "Well, good luck with that," she said, slinging an arm around Samantha's shoulders. "I'm with Sam here, so I get to avoid the brunt of... whatever his name was."
"See you at lunch?" Zephyr asked, holding out a paw. Elena fist-bumped it and nodded. "Sure. Do you want to meet in the canteen?"
"Why not?" Luna replied. "Hopefully they have some good stuff to eat." She sighed. "Though school cafeterias aren't really known for good food."
"Alright," Samantha said. "Let's head to the Main Block!"
---
The group split up when they reached the fifth floor. Samantha made her way past the lines of chattering animals until she reached a door labelled "Mr Syne".
She glanced at Elena, who shrugged and reached to open the door. They padded into the classroom, where they were greeted with a few lone students scattered around the tables with their Maths books and pens.
A black furred dog with dull blue markings and in a blue sweater looked up from his desk. He pushed his glasses up his nose and squinted at the two. "Please take a seat. Any is fine."
Samantha stared at him, waiting for more instructions, but he had already went back to looking over several papers. She shrugged and chose a seat close to the left of the room. Elena sat down next to her and dumped her Maths books onto the table with a loud bang.
Several students looked up from their desks and peered at the two. Elena frowned back at them until they looked away.
Samantha put down her books quietly and looked up at the clock, then back at the door. Slowly, students were making their way carefully and quietly into the classroom.
Samantha sighed and rested her head on her paws. This was going to be a long lesson indeed.
