Chapter 5

I was furious with my mum and I was about to show her how pissed off I was. I walked through the door only to find nobody in the front room, where I expected my mum to be. I slowly shut the door and called out to her.

"Eomma" I cried and I received no response. I knew she was here because the family car was parked out front. I decided to investigate the house.

I crept around lightly as I felt a presence in the house, the atmosphere felt unsafe and unpleasant and I felt adrenaline pounding through me. I checked the kitchen and dining room and there was still no sign of my mum. I paused in confusion when suddenly I heard a piercing scream come from upstairs.

"AHHHHHH" my mum screamed at the top of her voice and I instantly grabbed the closest object next to me, a lamp. I ran up the stairs as quick and as quiet as I could and I made my way straight to my parents room. I flung open the door and saw a man hovering over my mother on the bed with his hand over her mouth.

"GET THE FUCK OFF OF MY MUM" I shouted and I swung for the man. He didn't even bother to duck, instead he stood there and accepted the impact of the lamp stand to his skull. I froze and waited for a reaction but instead nothing happened. The man smiled at me and stared into my eyes. I noticed his eyes showed no emotion, and there was blood dripping from his lips. He noticed the blood and simply licked his lips dry. I dropped the lamp stand in shock and took a step back. I heard the cry of my mother in pain and I rushed over to her.

"I'll be back" the man said and ran towards the window before jumping out of it. My eyes widened at the action but I turned my attention to my mums bleeding neck. Her veins had popped out in plain sight and two venomous looking bites marked her neck. She was screaming in agony and I tried to calm her down but I could see the pain seething through her. I searched my pockets desperately to find my phone and once I did I immediately dialled an ambulance.

"H-hello, my mums been hurt b-badly and her neck is bleeding and she can't talk but she's shaking I-I need h-help" I stumbled whilst talking due to the fear of loosing my mother. I hung up the phone once I gave our address, and I waited 10 minutes for the ambulance to arrive, but it felt like forever.

I watched my mum tremble in fear and she finally managed to spit words out one by one.

"H-he b-bit me" she stuttered and I grew frightened of her words. That man bit my mothers neck. What the fuck?!?! A Cannibal, no wonder this town has such a fucked up feel about it.

As soon as the ambulance arrived they took my mother away in a stretcher and to the back of a van. I hurried after her but was stopped by a girl with long, dark purple hair. I wondered where she had come from and why she had stopped me from following my mum but before I could say anything she placed a finger on my lips.

"I'm going to need you to listen to me. Your mother will not die, I am sure of that, you called the ambulance just in time and now she will have the care she needs. I will drive you to the hospital but you need to trust me." She looked at me with delicate eyes but I couldn't help but continue to panic.

"No I need to go in that van, I don't fucking know you and you want me to suddenly get in your car" I shouted at her with anger, how dare she stop me? Who even is she?

"My name is Lexi and just because you don't know me doesn't mean I'm not trustworthy. Jungkook you know too much, you've seen too much and now your life is at risk. I need to explain to you what you saw but you need to keep an open mind." She spoke calmly whilst placing her hands on my arms and kept a firm grasp. I was taken aback by how chill she was but I decided to obey her.

"How do you know my name?" I asked.

"No time for questions, just get in." She made her way to a silver sports car and flung open the door. I turned and watched the ambulance van speed down the road and I started to worry again. I ran to Lexi's car and got inside the passengers seat. Before I had managed to put on my belt or let alone even breathe, she revved the engine and accelerated down my street. My head flung back due to the gravity and I tightened my eyes shut.

"FUCK HOW FAST DO YOU WANNA GO?" I shouted and simply chuckled. She swerved through all the traffic on the main roads and I prayed for my life. Her purple hair went crazy under the winds control but she didn't seem to care at all.

"What you saw happen to your mum has happened to multiple people these past couple of weeks. What you read about in books, or watch in films can be as real as anything you've ever known. That man in your mothers room, he's immortal. He is no human that roams around oblivious to the true dangers of this world, no, he is one of the dangers of this world and he's after you now."

What did she just say to me? Immortal. What type of bullshit is this lunatic trying to feed me?

"I know it's hard to understand but like I said I need you to keep an open mind. Immortality is real and you have not seen the last of it. Do your research. I shall explain more if you want to know more but for now I have to cure your mother." So many questions were running through my head during the time it took us to get from outside my house to the hospital, but mostly I couldn't understand how she would cure my mother. She swung the car into a parking space and jumped out of the car. I followed her actions and ran over to her once outside the car.

"What do you mean you're gonna cure my mother?" I asked her in a worried tone. She turned to me her eyes full of stress and her face painted with dread. She pulled her hair from her face and bit her lip.

"I can't tell you just yet, but I promise you will know. Everything will fall into place but you need to learn to have faith in me. We are no longer strangers and never again will we be. I am not leaving your side Jungkook." She looked at me sympathetically before she spoke one last time.

"I will save her." She told me quietly, and with that she disappeared before my eyes into the hospital.
