HAN Chaejin was convinced that Soccer Season was just an extended version of Hell Week.

Don't get her wrong, she loved the game - been playing it for basically her entire seventeen years of life - but it was the training that got to her. The way the hot sun beat down on the back of her neck, the way the field got all muddy and gross whenever it rained; these were things she could really do without.

Unfortunately for her, today was one of those muddy field days. She had only ran three laps but had already almost slipped more times than she'd liked to.

"Oh, my God, you are so funny!"

Another thing she could really do without was Kang Jangmi, the actual embodiment of Satan. If Regina George from Mean Girls and Sharpay from High School musical ever had a baby, it would be Kang Jangmi. She fit every single "'mean high school girl" cliché criteria. In other words, she was one helluva bitch.

She was sitting in the bleachers, running her mouth about God knows what. Jangmi didn't play a sport, but she was particularly fond of ogling at jocks and socializing. However, Chaejin wasn't focused on her. She was staring at the boy who sat beside her, his perfect white teeth practically blinding as his laughter drifted out into the open air.

Kim Too-Perfect-For-This-World Jongin.

Student council president and president of the drama club, Chaejin has had a crush on Jongin since last year.

It was a shame she'd never spoken a word to him before.

Her interactions with him were limited to awkward random eye contact in the cafeteria and longing glances (on her part only).

But boy, was she convinced that they were perfect for each other.

"Han Chaejin! You're falling behind!"

"What?" The sudden disruption from the soccer coach pulled her out of her daydreaming state and flung her back onto the field, where she was in the process of falling over. In a panic, she tried to steady herself, but only ended up slipping and falling into a mud puddle.

"Jongin again?" a voice inquired as an outstretched hand appeared in front of her. Grateful, she grabbed onto it.

"Was I that obvious?" Chaejin asked, wincing as she stood up to face the person.

"When aren't you that obvious?" the girl in front of her laughed.

"Gee, thanks for the comfort Haneul," Chaejin replied, her words lined with sarcasm. She'd known Lee Haneul for about two years now, when the girl had tried out for the soccer team.
