Kang Jangmi, high school senior and one half of the school's sweetheart couple, was a massively pompous nightmare of a person, and she was strangely ok with that.
The problem was that nobody else seemed to be... not that she really gave half a shit.
What she did give half a shit about was the fact that a certain something – or rather, someone – had been taking up all of Chanyeol's time for the past two weeks. This was something she was completely not ok with, which is exactly why she decided to confront Chanyeol about it.
Very loudly.
During lunch period in front of the whole school.
"Who's Chaejin?" Jangmi promptly asked once she took a seat beside him. Chanyeol, who was in the process of throwing a fry into Yixing's open mouth, actively missed and hit him in the eye instead.
"What?" Chanyeol questioned, ignoring Yixing's pain-filled groans to focus on Jangmi, who had one perfectly filled in eyebrow arched in an accusing manner. "Nobody."
"Hm, that's funny," Jangmi replied, her voice noticeably louder this time. "From what I've heard, you've been ignoring me, my calls and my texts because you've been running around trying to do charity work by helping Han Chaejin do God knows what."
By now, the entire lunch table had gone silent. The members of the basketball team were exchanging worried glances, all while Chanyeol tried his best not to break out into a cold sweat. After making fleeting eye contact with Sehun that just screamed "Help me, you idiot!" and just getting an alarmed shrug in return, Chanyeol could safely say he was on his own with this one.
"Jangmi, I don't know what you're talking about–"
"That's funny," she repeated, louder, and this time everyone at the table jumped. "People keep telling me they see you guys everywhere together." She then reached for her phone, which was neatly stuck inside her pocket. "I even have pictures if you wanna see."
"Oh, she got them receipts," Yixing leaned over and whispered to Minseok, who only shoved him away.
"That's not necessary," Chanyeol quickly said, grabbing Jangmi's hand before she could do anything.
"Don't touch me!" Jangmi hissed, dramatically pulling her hand away and standing up. The way her voice echoed off the walls made Chayeol aware of how hushed the cafeteria had grown, which probably meant that everybody was too busy watching the drama unfold to actually mimd their own business.
