Axel's PoV

Was Jesse hurting himself? Was he okay? I lay on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. I shouldn't have done that. He was my only friend in school, maybe besides Olivia but even she found me annoying. I grinned a little and resolved to help Jesse.

The next day at school, however. He was no where to be seen. "Did you hear that huge thunderstorm last night?" I overheard someone say and everyone seemed to be interested in the weather last night. True, the storm was very heavy and I could barely sleep last night. "One of the houses got struck." I heard another kid, a girl, say.

"Which house?" the other kid asked, straightening his glasses. "Oh come on Radar, it was on the news and everything." the blonde girl said, flipping her hair as she took down books from her locker. "Um.. which house?" Radar asked, unaware of her comment. "It was the Jones'. That boy Jesse? The kid who always sleeps in class and still gets higher than me?" I looked up when I heard that. Jesse's house?

After school, I cycled around town, trying to find Jesse's house. If his house was struck by lightning... was he okay? My hair waving in the wind, I stood up on my bike and rushed past some houses, looking for any particular signs of a burned house.

I stopped and wondered if I were Jesse, where would I go? I looked around, worried. The it hit me. The treehouse. I did a quick U-turn and was just about to go when- I ran right into Aiden and his cronies. "Hey fatso." Maya grinned, as Gill laughed. "Excuse me." I said, a little forcefully since I wanted to be on my way, than to talk to these idiots.

Lukas looked at his friends but didn't say anything, he just silently stared at the ground. Aiden raised an eyebrow and looked at my bike. "Hey Axel, I think you're mistaken. You're riding the wrong bike." Aiden grinned. "You're supposed to ride a tricycle. Since you're sooo fat." I wanted to get down from my bike but was stopped by someone beside me.

"Leave. Him. Alone," Jesse said, his green eyes burning. Now, I've seen Jesse's glares and I know it was super scary. It was so unreal that a kind, caring boy like Jesse would have such a side. "Oh, Jesse." Aiden laughed nervously, losing his cool. "How many times do you want me to tell you?" Jesse said, stepping forward.

Aiden nodded and vanished, running down the path, with his friends in tow. "Phew, thanks Jones." I said to my best friend as he nodded back at me. "I was looking for you- I heard-."

"My house?" Jesse sighed. "You mean, it's true?" I asked, worried. "Yeah, I-." Suddenly Jesse winced and grabbed the streetlamp beside him, steadying himself. "Whoa- Jesse, you okay?" I asked, holding him up.

"Yeah. I'm okay. It's just headaches." Jesse pressed a hand against the side o his head. I looked at him, worried. Jesse was usually a very healthy person... if he was acting like this...
