Crawling For Clues

All I saw was red. At the bottom of the staricase, Marquel was motionless and surrounded by a pool of blood. From the looks of it, there seemed to be multiple stab wounds to his torso. Alora and Velda quickly lead us away from the gruesome scene and led us to the meeting room on the second floor, clearly bothered themselves. Clifford then came in with a flat look on his face.

"My dear guests it seems as if the killer has struck. Each day one of you will die due to your inability to figure out how the killer committed his or her devious crime. Each time the murderer commits his or her crime, the cases will become harder to solve. Now there is one more twist, the killer is among us, standing in this room right now. The good part is you are all one step closer to 1 million dollars. No one can leave now that you know what the game show is really about."

We all just looked around the room at each other. Could it be one of the people I wanted to be on my team? Could it be the maids or Clifford? At this point I didn't know what to think, but there was no way that I was dying without a fight. He informed us that we each will have to choose an area to investigate. Our choices were the morgue, the crime scene, or the last know whereabouts. Clifford gave us a minute to think about where we would like to investigate. I chose the morgue because that could reveal vital information that could explain the cause of death.

"When it is time to return to the lounge you will hear a bell ring. The maids and I will then escort you back here to the meeting hall. After everyone has returned back from investigating, the most vital piece of evidence will be revealed to the person who solves the riddle."

"So where is the morgue?" Jeffery asked looking around the room.

"Why, it's in the basement! What did you expect?" Clifford casually stated.

"Well I didn't expect it to be in the basement." Denise said and we all nodded our heads in agreement, some even laughing.

"Who would like to go to the morgue?" Clifford asked, scanning the room.

"Okay Nikki, Denise, and Sarah please follow Aulora to the morgue."

"Who would like to go to Marquel's last known whereabouts?"

"Aura, Alexander, and Jackie please follow Velda to Marquel's room."

"Who would like to take a look at the bloody crime scene?"

"Danny, Jake, and Jeffery please follow me to the crime scene."

THE MORGUE

There Marquel lay, cold and dead. By looking at the body I can confirm that this wasn't just an accident, this was planned. Knives are used when a murderer wants to show that he/she has control over the victim. Rather than a gun, knives can cause a slow and painful death. Marquel had multiple stab wounds. I had seen them when I first saw him dead, but I didn't realize that there were so many. Everyone seemed to think that the stab wounds were the cause of death and that the weapon would obviously be a knife, or another sharp object. This may be the first death, but this shouldn't be that easy. Everyone else left, but I stayed to investigate further. When I looked around his neck, I saw an area that was red and puffy. It looked like something was inside his skin. I took a scalpel and made a small incision, as I had learned during my forensics course. What I saw was repulsive. There were several small tiny worms now crawling on his body and on the cold morgue slab. When I turned half of his body over, I saw more of the bubbles. I knew what was inside if them so I didn't bother to cut them open. The incisions that looked like stab wounds could just be cuts that the murderer used to eventually kill Marquel. The maggots were there to cause more pain, but they were not the cause of death. This is a very vital clue and out of all the people that went to the morgue, I was the only one that knew.

The Crime Scene

(Jeffery's Point of View)

The last known whereabouts was extremely bloody. Everywhere you stepped, there was blood. Therefore, I decided to stay on the perimeter of all the gore. The only thing that I saw in the puddles of blood was what looked like a worm of some sort. When I looked behind me I saw little drops of blood leading down the hallway. Everyone else left so I decided to follow it. The drops lead to the outside sliding door. The blood pooled right before the door where it looked like a tire track imprint was.

The Last Known Whereabouts

(Jackie's Point Of View)

The last known location of Marquel was his bedroom. On his nightstand there was a little notepad with the piece of paper ripped off. I took the pencil that was beside it and shaded the notepad to reveal the message that was written on the previous page. The note read

Meet me at the pool, I have vital information for you to survive.

This murder has way more to it than just the stab wounds. The estate bell rang and now it is time for the riddle. I hope that someone wins the riddle and tells me because I have a bunch of puzzle pieces, but I don't know how to put them together.
