I woke up in the middle of the night, feeling like someone was hitting me repeatedly in the head with a sledgehammer and suddenly I had the urge to throw up everything I ate last night.
I quickly stumbled out of my bed and ran to the toilet in the bathroom, knocking over a few things in the pitch-dark room while running, and I reached the toilet just in time.
While throwing up, I felt someone holding my hair back and softly rubbing my back while whispering sweet nothings in my ear. When I was done, I couldn't find the strength to stand up again so I just sat next to the toilet, with my back leaning against the bath.
When I looked up I saw Cara, my girlfriend of three years, getting me a glass of water before walking back to me. She looked at me with concern and gave me a little smile while handing me the glass of water.
I mumbled a small thanks and quickly chugged the water down to get rid of the nasty taste in my mouth.
My head felt like someone was hitting me repeatedly in the head with a baseball bat and my stomach didn't feel much better. I never felt so bad in my life. I really hate being sick and the worst part is, that tomorrow was the only free day I had in three weeks and I certainly didn't plan for me to be sick on that day.
Then it occurred to me that I probably woke Cara up while running towards the bathroom and I knew how much she loved her sleep especially when she didn't have a good night of sleep in weeks.
"Sorry that I woke you up. I didn't break anything did I? Otherwise I will replace it-" She cut my rambling of by placing her hand in front of my mouth and shushing me.
"Shhh shut up babe, it's not your fault. How are you feeling? Stupid question, you probably feel like shit. Let's get you back to bed and try to sleep for a little bit longer."
While saying this she lifted me up and carried me bridal style back to our bed. She gently put me down with my back against the headboard and went away again to get me some medicine.
When she came back, I looked at the disgusting medicine in her hand. It was bubbling and it looked like vomit. No way in hell am I going to drink that. I would probably get even sicker.
"I'm not taking that. If it tastes as disgusting as it looks like, I will probably die immediately right here and then it will be your fault. It even smells like something died in the medicine bottle!"
Cara laughed at me while coming closer with the glass filled with medicine.
"Oh you will take this Y/N! I don't care if I have to force you to drink it, but you're going to drink it until the last drop! Just drink it fast babe, I bet it tastes better than you think. And after you drank it, we can cuddle in the bed until you fall asleep again. Sleep always helps when you're sick. But we're not going to bed before you drank the medicine babe!"
I looked once again at the medicine in disgust before I quickly drank it all. It tasted even worse than it looked like and I had the urge to spit it out again, but I knew that I had to drink again then.
"Well done. That wasn't so bad was it?" Cara asked me while I just glared at her. She chuckled and gave me a peck on my forehead.
She crawled into the bed and wrapped her arms around me from behind. "Try to get some more sleep baby. That's the best medicine against the flu. Than your body can fight it. I will be right here beside you trying to get some more sleep as well, but not before you. So, if you need something like a glass of water, just ask and I will get it for you." She whispered in my ear and I cuddled even closer in her.
Before I knew it, I drifted back to sleep again with Cara's arms holding me.
I woke up drenched in sweat, but feeling like I was at the North Pole. I didn't feel the heat of Cara's body anymore, so I turned around to be met with an empty, cold mattress. I wrapped myself completely in my blanket, before grabbing two other blankets, an extra pair of socks and an extra pillow. I draped the blankets over my normal blanket after putting on the socks and I tightly hold the pillow in front of my stomach, like it was a person.
I felt myself slowly falling asleep, while I was starting to feel a little bit warmer with all the extra blankets, socks and pillows.
"Y/N, baby, wake up. Wake up babe." I heard while I felt someone shaking me. My eyes fluttered open, only to be met with bright, white light, which made me groan. "Switch the lights off. They are not helping my headache." I snarled.
Cara quickly switched some lights off, and returned to the bed. She helped me sit up and put a few pillows between my back and the headboard so that I could sit straight without feeling uncomfortable.
"I made you some soup. I hope you like it. I mean, I'm not the best cook, but I tried my best. It's not going to get better than this. Soup always helps when I'm sick and you always take great care of me when I'm sick, so I wanted to return the favour. It's still hot, so be careful! I will help you eat if necessary babe." She said while cutely smiling and winking at me.
I just looked at her with a look of adoration. What did I do to deserve this beautiful girl? She's everything I could wish for. She is my everything. I want to spend my forever with this gorgeous girl. She is perfect, inside out.
"What did I do to deserve you? You're my definition of perfection." I said to her while smiling at her and putting my hand on her cheek.
I saw her leaning in to kiss me and I quickly put my hand in front of her mouth, knowing that if we kissed, so could get sick as well and that was the last thing I wanted.
"Why can't I kiss you?" She said while pouting after I retracted my hand.
"I just don't want you getting sick babe. And stop pouting! You look to adorable not to kiss but I don't want to make you sick! You're basically torturing a sick person! You should be ashamed of yourself." I told her while laughing silently. Even just being near this girl made me feel better, even when I'm sick.
She rolled her eyes and stood up to give me a bowl of soup. It smelled delicious and it tasted great as well. She is a good cook, despite what she thinks.
"This tastes great babe! I can already feel myself getting better! I love you so much. Thank you for taking care of me. You're the best girlfriend anyone could wish for. But I also want cuddles when I'm sick, so get your cute ass in here and come cuddle with me." I said while finishing my soup and I put the empty bowl on the night stand.
She went to sit on the bed and crawled under the covers while spooning me from behind with her being the big spoon of course. I felt her arms snaking around my stomach and she pulled me closer towards her, with her head leaning on my shoulder. This was by far my favourite position. In the strong arms of my perfect girlfriend.
"Aww you're too sweet babe. You better make sure you get better soon, because I can't wait to kiss those beautiful lips of yours, especially since you're being so sweet and everything. So, you either get better, or you just turn into a mean bitch. No, I'm just kidding. I love you babygirl."
She laughed after her own comment, while I just elbowed her in her ribs.
"You're such an idiot sometimes."
"But I'm your idiot." She said while cheekily grinning at me.
"That's very much true. I love you babe."
"I love you too baby. Now try getting some more sleep, so that I can kiss you again tomorrow."
With that being said, we both went to sleep in each other's arms.
