"Cara! Hurry up! We're going to miss our flight if we don't leave immediately and the cab is already here!" I yelled upstairs to my girlfriend of four years, Cara Delevingne.
"I'm coming babe, I'm coming! We will make it, don't worry!"
Five seconds later she came down the stairs with two huge bags. It looked like she took our whole house with her. I just sighed before helping her putting her bags in the cab. I quickly locked our apartment while Cara already went to go sit in the cab.
When I entered the cab, the driver started driving towards the airport and I felt like I could finally breathe again. Cara intertwined our hands and started gently rubbing the back of my hand with her thumb which made me finally relax. I always get very stressed whenever I have to go to the airport.
After half an hour, we finally reached the airport. I took Cara's bags and my backpack because they were the heaviest and Cara took my bag. We quickly checked in and went through security while making small talk and before I knew it we were sitting in the plane.
I've always hated flying. It freaks me out knowing that if one single thing goes wrong you can crash. I was biting my nails, an annoying habit I've developed over the years whenever I'm nervous or bored, but Cara quickly took my hand, preventing me from destroying my nails.
"it will be okay babe, we won't crash and I'm right next to you okay? So, whenever you're scared, just take my hand and I will protect you. Everything will be fine and before you know it we will be hiking in Ireland. I love you and I will protect you from everything bad in the world, because I love you. So, just relax and enjoy the flight babe, there's no need at all to be stressed."
I sighed and tried to find a comfortable position in the chair while squeezing Cara's hand.
"Did I ever tell you how much I love you? I would live in a plane if it would make you happy and you know how much I hate planes."
She nodded and just gave my hand a little squeeze before gently kissing my cheek. I could feel my cheeks heat up and I looked down, hoping that Cara wouldn't see it. The effect this woman has on me, even after four years.
Eventually, with Cara's help, the flight was quite okay. It helped that it wasn't that long and it definitely helped that Cara was there to comfort and protect me from my own thoughts.
We just had to rent a car and then we could finally start touring Ireland. For our first few days I rented a small, little, romantic cottage in Killarney so that we could make some beautiful walks in all of the national parks.
Everything went very quick and before I knew it we had a car and were on our way. It was a four-hour drive, but our surroundings were beautiful so there was never a dull moment.
When we arrived at the cottage, I looked at Cara to see if she was still sleeping since she fell asleep halfway the ride. When I saw that she was still sleeping, I decided to bring the suitcases in so that everything was ready, since she clearly needed her rest.
After everything was inside, I quietly woke Cara up.
"Babe, Cara, wake up, we are here. You can continue your nap in the bed inside. Come. It's already ten so we can just go to bed and do everything tomorrow."
Cara sleepily nodded and got out of the car. I had to almost drag her inside because she was so tired. When we reached the bedroom, I gave her her toothbrush and pyjamas so that she could get ready for bed.
After 15 minutes, we were cuddled up in bed together, her head on my chest with my arms around her. She immediately fell asleep and after a few minutes I could feel my eyes closing as well.
