The next morning I wake up to my alarm and instantly roll over to grab my phone to text Sophie what I've been texting her every morning for the past couple of mornings.
So far, nothing has been coming from Skylar but I have a feeling that she didn't just stop.
Rolling out of bed I decide to throw on a white band shirt with a flannel shirt over and some skinny jeans with some tears in it. I am throwing on my old ratty converse shoes when I look at the clock. *Crap. I'm running late.* I quickly cram all of my papers into my bag and stop by the kitchen to grab an apple for breakfast then I'm running out the door.
As I'm halfway to school I realized that I forgot to brush my hair, I decide to just throw it up into a bun so I can "deal" with it later.
I'm running into homeroom right as the bell rings. I stand in the doorframe for a second catching Sophie's glance. I quickly sit in my seat while keeping my eyes down, hoping Miss Buckle doesn't notice me. Sitting in homeroom doing nothing, I quietly count down the time until I got to go to Chemistry.
Walking through the door of class, I notice Jake already sitting by my desk with his butt on top of it and his arms crossed over his chest as he is talking to a couple of his friends. He notices me in the doorway and smiles. I give him a side smile back.
Looking at him, I notice that today he is wearing a nice white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows with nice black pants but his hair is a mess, a type of mess that actually ends up looking nice. I begin walking to my desk and he clearly says something to the people around him, because they looked at me, then quickly walked away.
I set down my stuff on the side of my desk to sit across from him and as I take my seat he takes his. He just sits across from me for a second before saying anything.
"Hi." He simply said smiling and looking at me.
I laugh a bit to myself before saying, "Hi."
He just looks at me for a second before reaching down to pick up his bookbag and look through it. He and I pull out the papers for the project that we worked on yesterday and set them side by side. Laying our papers next to each other I realize that we don't have that much accomplished compared to what we need done.
Jake kind of sighs and looks at me saying, "Dang. We have quite a bit we still need to get done. Even though we still got a few more days we might have to rush."
"Yah we do. Just this class time won't be enough." I said looking at him for a second before looking back down at the papers, then the conversation me and my mom had last night came to me.
"Hey. Why don't we work on this a bit at my house? We can do it later or after school. Whatever fits your schedule better will work."
After saying this he looked up at me. My hands began to sweat a bit because I didn't know how he was going to respond to it. I kinda hoped he didn't turn me down but I didn't expect him to say what he said next.
He looks at me and smiles."I'd love to. I can do it right after this class. All I have to do is tell my buds I can't make it today."
I look up at him with a surprised face as he pulls out his phone. He begins texting as I'm still staring in shock.
"Hope they don't get mad." He paused for a second and laughed, "I was their ride." He said as he slipped his phone back into his pocket.
Hearing him laugh it gets me to chuckle a bit. "Ok. I walk to school so we can walk there or you can drive to my place if you want."
He thinks it over for a moment before saying, "Uh. I think I'll just walk with you. When I leave I'll walk back here and get my truck."
"Oh okay then." I said smiling a bit to myself.
