Next thing I knew I was waking up on the floor and my head on Jake's chest. I just laid there for a second thinking that it was a dream but then I remembered that we stayed up talking all afternoon and evening until we fell asleep.

I looked out the window and the sun was just beginning to rise as Jake was. I was sitting at the window when he came up behind me and wrapped his hands around my waist and put his head on my shoulder. I leaned back into his body and felt the warmth.

We sat there for a few minutes before he finally spoke. "We have to go to school." He said this in such a hushed whisper that I could barely hear him.

"Yeah, I know. But I gotta go home first and change."

"I'll take you."

Even though we said this we still sat there and watched the sun rising. But eventually, we were in his truck on our way back to my house.

When we pulled into the driveway Jake quickly got out and walked to the other side of the truck. Once again he carried me on his back inside refusing to let me walk. Once we were inside I steered him in the direction of the bathroom because he needed to freshen up and as he did I went into my room and changed.

I went in with my hair a mess from sleeping on the floor and wearing a crappy sweatshirt and leggings, to coming out with my hair neatly styled half up half down and a band t-shirt with black ripped jeans and a plaid shirt tied around my waist.

I was standing in the kitchen eating an apple when Jake came out of the bathroom wearing the same nice outfit with his hair looking wet but neater.

With me dressed and ready Jake decided to stop quickly at his house. His house belonged on the side of town where the richer people lived. The houses were large and extravagant with a huge distance between each. We drove down the long road for a few minutes before he pulled into one of the last houses on the right side.

This house was really like the others but different in little ways. It was a huge White House with a nice wide porch out front. The pillars reached the very top of the house and it looked like a perfect white picket fence.

I was staring wide-eyed out the window at the house in which I could fit three of mine when I heard Jake laugh.

I look over at him, "What?"

He just laughs and shakes his head. "Nothing. You just look cute all wide-eyed like that."

"Well, you've seen the house I've lived in my whole life." I looked from Jake back to the house, "And then here you are living in a place like this."

He just laughed at me again and ran his damp hair, "Well it does help to have a Dad who is a lawyer and a stepmom who is a pediatrician."

I didn't say anything but I just let out a low whistle.

We sat there for a few more seconds as I just stared at the house before Jake spoke up. "Hey, let's go inside. I would like to change out of these clothes."

I just looked at him and laughed, "Okay. Fine."

I hobbled inside with my crutches with Jake in front of me. Instantly when you walk into the house it's a wide open area. Looking straight I can see counters which means that room must be the kitchen. And then the living room was open and the dining room was attached to it. To our right was the stairs that led straight up to the second floor.

The entire bottom floor was color-coded and every piece matched the other. The white sofa set was a couch facing the fireplace and tv with a love seat on each side. It was all perfectly spotless.
