"Kitten, time to wake up," a voice projected in my ear. Even in my sleep induced state I could recognize it as my father's.
I groaned and rolled over, burying my face in the pillow.
"Alright, I tried to be nice, we'll do it my way now."
Oh no. Before I could react he had lifted the left side of my mattress, sending me rolling to the floor with a loud thud.
I groaned in equal parts pain and annoyance.
"Dad!" I scolded, rubbing my soon to be bruised butt.
He just laughed some more as I glared. I hated when my mom sent him to wake me up for school, it never ended well for me.
My dad, Alpha Phillip Sawyer of the Silver Moon pack, liked things done a certain way, right when he said so. I however didn't enjoy being woken up in the morning. It was a disobedience he'd have to live with.
"Come on get dressed. You have school in an hour," my dad said. He continued to snicker as he left my room.
There's our Alpha for you.
While with others he wears a permanent frown and runs a tight ship, with me he's a big softie. My dad and I have always had a great relationship. I grew up around boys, and was rarely into feminine activities. As a result I found it hard to bond with my mother or female friends.
I became a daddy's girl. It's hard not to when your father is an over protective Alpha.
My brother Dustin is the one who receives more of his serious side. That's necessary though, to prepare him for his future position as Alpha.
Dustin's twenty, three years older than my seventeen years. He has recently found his mate, making him almost ready to take on the Alpha role. Though it's not necessary, it is almost an unspoken rule amongst packs that the next in line Alpha should not officially obtain the title until he is fully mated. Our mates are the other half to our soul, and without the other we are in complete, therefore unsuited to rule a pack alone. The Alpha male needs his Luna to keep him grounded and sane.
I showered and changed into my cheerleading uniform. We are required to wear them to school on every game day. Up until that year, my senior year, I was never allowed to join the team. Alpha's orders. My dad was certainly not impressed with the short skirt and cropped top uniform. However the real reason for his reluctance was because I would have to travel off of our territory for away games.
Today is the first game of the season. Unfortunately we are up against South Shore, otherwise known as the designated school for the White Creek Pack.
Our packs had been rivals for years, since before I was born. A war broke out over unclaimed land located between both of our territories. My grandfather, Julian Sawyer the Alpha at the time fought with White Creeks Alpha, Litimus Dawson.
I've been spared most of the gory details but I do know that Litimus and his higher ranks captured my grandfather, held him captive, tortured, and killed him. Apparently it was a devastating time for Silver Moon.
My grandmother, passed away four years ago. She was never the same after the loss of her mate. If it weren't for the pack and my father, she would not have survived as long as she did. As Luna she had an entire pack looking towards her for guidance during a dark time. She ran the pack with the help of the beta for five years until my father was old enough to take over.
I will always admire her for being such a strong Alpha Female.
When I entered the kitchen I moaned at the smell of pancakes. With my mother there was never a morning without breakfast on the table.
