You always tend to forget those you hate. The ones who seemed to get under your skin just to make you mad. Just as my mother once said ignorance is bliss. My only question is this, why did I forget the one I loved?
Such a question may be asked by how by ever means is it answered? I will now tell you how I forgot the man I loved. As fate has it heartbroken can't even describe my state as I write this, but my love shall be my last story written and told by me.
Three years ago under that cottonwood tree behind the high school I sat reading my English report for the fifth time trying to correct any of my mistakes. Even though I was a senior I felt as if I was still in the fourth grade as I felt the spring breeze lift my long golden locks to the wind only to let them to fall slowly back down to rest on my shoulders.
Sighing I realized I hadn't made a me noticeable mistake that I hadn't already caught and start putting all my stuff in my bag. I was standing up when someone crashed into me from around the tree. Face first in the dirt I came up spitting as I flipped around trying to push the person off of me. When I finally looked at the face of who fell on me I saw none other than the chocolaty brown hair and warm blue eyes of Harris Lemming.
"I'm so sorry, its just well I wasn't looking and I guess tree roots are out to get me." The innocence in his eyes cause me to stop my squirming beneath him and smile.
"Alright I'll forgive you, but only if you get off of me."
"Why? Do you not like the feeling of me so close to you?" He says this seductively as he brings his face to mine. His cologne whispers its scent to me as I breath in and out. He's so close so I whisper in his ear.
"I'm just surprised you like being so close to me matter of fact, most would run." At this he rests his head on the side of my neck and laughs quietly. He soon responds to me still against my neck.
"Well I'm not like others, I follow my own rules. Just to prove it, would you like me to take you home on this fine day?" I put a thinking look on my face and lay there for a minute with his weight pinning me down, finally I give him an answer.
"Okay, but first you must get off of me and then I shall happily comply." Almost immediately he stands up and give me a hand. Laughing I take it and stand up. We start walking in the direction he has indicated as being the one towards his car when he suddenly turns to me.
"Wanna make everyone stare at us?" The twinkle of mischief in his eyes almost made me laugh as I replied wondering at what he had in mind.
"Why of couse , wha-?" I had started screaming because he had lifted me up and over his shoulder and ran toward the car yelling all the while. I couldn't understand a word he said because I was laughing and screaming too loud. He opened the door to his car and with a great amount of care put me in the passenger seat still giggling at what we had just done.
He started the car and exited the parking lot laughing at all the stares as we continue down the block.
"Now where do you live so I can make sure I don't leave you on the sidewalk in some scary part of town." I start to tell him but then I couldn't help myself as I asked him a question.
"Now where in the world did you come up with that idea?" His face couldn't have a bigger smile as he gave me an answer.
"The voices inside my head." Then we both laugh hysterically as we continue toward my house. "You know Gemma I would like it if you would go on a date with me, maybe even help me make more people stare." I was as shocked more than someone who stuck a paper clip in an outlet. No one had ever asked me out before, I almost didn't know how to respond. After a minute I finally spoke up.
"I would love to be on a date with you." He stops in front of my house and turns toward me.
"Good I'll pick you up at six on Friday." His smile says a million things as he gets out of the drivers side to open my door. While I may see a million things I know one thing, they're all happy things. He stops me in front of my door.
"See ya on Friday." Then he kisses me on the cheek and runs towards his car before I could say anything with huge smile on his face. Already I could tell this one was going to be a handful, but a happy one at that.
