Chapter 24

[ Misunderstood: Ch. 24 ]

"Ms. Abbott, you're gonna have to stay here for another week or so. Then, we need to talk about medical bills." He said to me.

I froze. Medical bills? How was I gonna pay for that? I don't even know if insurance would help since I did this to myself...

"A-alright sir..." I said shakily. My brother made pretty good money. Our apartment was really nice, but I don't know if I could get ahold of Kalvin...

"Insurance will cover some of this actually, but there's still some to pay for." He stated.

I let out a huge breath I didn't know I was holding then I nodded, "thank you. Can I talk to Dani for a minute?" I asked.

He nodded, stepping out. Daniel came in and I smiled sheepishly at him, "Daniel.. I'm gonna be here for another week, and I need to get ahold of my brother about paying for my medical bills."

Daniel handed me his phone and I smiled thankfully at him, dialing my brother. "Hello? Who is this?" I heard him ask through the phone.

"It's Devilla.. I'm calling from my boyfriend's phone. I'm at the hospital." I said meekly. He wouldn't be happy about this. "D! Don't tell me-" I finished his thought.

"Yes Kal... I did... I'm sorry.." I whispered.

"D... please don't do that to yourself. You're all I've got left and it would hurt too much to know you were gone.." he mumbled.

"I know.. I'm sorry.. but I need help with medical bills... insurance will pay for some, but I don't know-" I took a sharp inhale. My leg felt like it was getting stabbed repetitively and I shut my eyes, blocking the tears that threatened to escape.

"D! Please get some rest. I'm coming now. Don't worry about a thing. Also, I'm talking to this boyfriend of yours when I get there." He said sternly.

I just choked out an almost inaudible 'okay', hitting the end button. I laid back down, handing Daniel the phone. He shoved it in his pocket then looked at my leg. He made a move to check it when I stopped him, "Daniel, I'm f-" I fought the urge to curse as the pain arrived in another wave.

If another one comes in probably going to pass out... as soon as I finished that thought another one came. I blacked out, wanting to scream in pain.

*Daniel's POV*
I went to check her leg as soon as she got off the phone, but she wouldn't let me. I could tell she was in extreme pain. Before I knew what was going on, she let out a yelp before blacking out.

I started to freak out, "D! Devilla, please wake up! Doctor!" I yelled, not knowing what to do. I grabbed her hand, lacing my fingers with hers and said, "I won't leave you... I love you..."
