Sombra's POV
Two days after they talked to us about taking out Annora, I heard people whispering about something. I couldn't decipher the words coming out of their mouths and felt like I was out of the loop. I saw the higher ups smiling at each other like they had accomplished something. I had to get to the bottom of this and fast.
That night, I stayed up until four in the morning searching through the Talon databases for recent mission's reports. There hadn't been anything new since the mission to Hanamura to find the remnants of the Shimada clan, so I was at a standstill. I tried to hack into the top secret database, but despite my heightened abilities in the art of hacking, it was extremely locked. Like they knew I might try to hack into it.
Widow and Reaper had been avoiding each other since they got back from Hanamura. I didn't know what happened between them but whenever Widow tried to sit next to me and Reaper, he always got up and left. And every time I passed Widow's room, I could have sworn that I heard her crying. Which many people thought was impossible.
I opened up the security camera footage from in front of Tracer's house hoping to see what I saw a month ago that was used to blackmail Widow in the first place. I watched for the next three days and Widow didn't appear at the door. Instead, I saw Mercy and Genji leave and enter the house. The only other people that would leave would be two teens running in and out. Annora never left the house, or appeared in any of the windows. I eventually stopped watching and assumed that the relationship was over. I got back to work and wasted my time hacking into government websites and databases.
The relationship between me, Reaper, and Widow had gotten extremely icy in the days that followed, almost as if Mei had used her endothermic blaster on the three of us. The two of them wouldn't talk to each other and I felt like I was in the middle. I couldn't ask about what had happened between the two of them or I would suffer the wrath of their anger. Instead, I turned to the next best thing: audio logs and security cameras.
In Talon, they get super paranoid when agents leave the compound and they can't be monitored about what they're saying. So each Talon aircraft is equipped with a voice recorder and secret cameras. I didn't know about this until a year ago while I was going through Talon's databases looking for information for a client outside of Talon.
I pulled up the most recent footage for each and the first things that came up was footage labeled Airship A0049-Hanamura Mission, July 23, 2076. Widow and Reaper were standing in the ship in the camera footage and they were doing things like in a silent movie. At one point, she picked him up and I was so confused on what was happening. She dropped him and backed away and he pulled out a piece of paper. I was extremely confused so instead, I opened up the audio logs. The first thing that was said was from Widow, saying: "How do you know that Annora girl?" I knew where this was going and now understood why she picked him up and understood why she dropped him. The paper made sense too, it was the one I printed off for Reaper. I was surprised that he had kept it.
I shot up and ran down to Reaper's room. He opened the door and I grabbed his hand, dragging him down towards Widow's room. He pulled on his hand to try to get away, but I wasn't letting go so easily. I stormed into Widow's room and saw her wiping her eyes. I gasped, confused about how she was able to cry. She hasn't cried in the years since her brainwashing and I didn't know how she was doing it now.
"I know what happened between you guys, so talk it out." I threw Reaper towards her and she shot up, stepping away from him. She shook her head and I pushed him further towards her.
"Talk it out. I'll be back in an hour." I shut the door behind me and stood outside the door. I could hear Reaper yelling and Widow yelling back, probably defending herself. I saw down and opened up some screens to get some more work done. I looked at the clock on my screen and saw that it had been an hour. The room had gotten deathly silent and I didn't know if I was supposed to be worried or happy that they had made up.
