Sombra's POV
I walked away from the table and over to where Annora was sleeping. I sat down in the shadows of the area and watched her closely. I never realized how much I loved the color of her eyes until she turned into Eva. I also didn't know how much I missed her gentle smile until earlier today. It was extremely sad that she wouldn't be with us anymore.
When we landed on the ground, Gabriel walked in and picked up Annora in his arms. I know he didn't see me because he didn't acknowledge my presence. I watched him walk away with his beloved daughter so tight that no one was getting past him. Not even the authorities that were supposed to take her away. Soon, the aircraft became silent and I knew I was alone. Police sirens came from the distance, meaning Annora was going to be taken away soon. I scowled and stood up.
I pulled out my translocator and opened up a screen that I recently installed. I set the teleporter to the UN headquarters and set it down on the floor. I closed my eyes and when I opened them, I was in the middle of one of the most heavily guarded buildings in the world. I turned on my invisibility and ran up the stairs to Mr. Edwards' office. I needed to find something to save Annora and I wasn't leaving until I did.
Before I even touched the doorknob, I turned off all the security cameras so I wasn't spotted. Getting caught was not an option. It would mean I would be sent to the same prison as Annora and I couldn't do that. I couldn't leave Gabriel behind. I opened the door slowly and was met with an empty office. I didn't expect anyone to be there, but it never hurt to check. I shut the door behind me and locked it. I learned my lesson with other missions, and I wasn't going to make the same mistake again.
I sat down behind the desk and I sighed. I wonder if Lena's chair felt the same way. I hacked into the dual computer set-up in front of me and pulled up the Overwatch file tab. In it were our previous missions from the two weeks before now. I opened up the files for the Eva Black mission. Most of it was Lena's report before the mission and will probably have the report from after the mission in a matter of hours. But one file felt like it was out of place. The file had no label, which only made me more curious. I clicked it and three different pages opened at once.
The first page was Annora's future prison file. It already had her name, birthdate, and other information, including a photo from a few years ago before she became Eva. The other page was a list of things similar to what I saw in Talon's files. Electrocution, knives, guns, even more experiments. The last page had a few short paragraphs on it, but it told me all I needed to know. I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand. I had found my evidence. Now it was time to go home. I copied the files and closed out of the windows.
I got up off the chair and unlocked the door. I opened up my screen and pressed the transport button. I closed my eyes and when I opened them, I was back in the aircraft from before. I grabbed my translocator and ran back into the base.
Annora's POV
When I woke up, I was back in Dad's arms. He held me so close to him, I could feel the warmth from his body. There were sirens in the distance and Dad held me closer. I could see Lena off to the side with Angela and Mei, and Sombra was nowhere to be seen. Lena refused to look my direction. The sirens came closer towards us and eventually made their way to the base.
"We are here for Annora." I looked up at Dad, then back at Lena. I guess I knew, deep down everything was not going to be alright. No one was going to accept me in the world. Not after everything I did.
"Dad, it's going to be ok." He looked down at me and I nodded.
"It's all going to be ok. I'll find you. I promise." I felt his breath hitch and he pressed his forehead on mine. I felt tears run down my cheeks and I stepped down onto the pavement. One of the people that was in the truck came over, grabbed my arm and dragged me away. I didn't reach out towards Dad or any of the others that here standing there with him. I just kept my head down as they put me in the back of the truck.
