MAY
After three weeks of my mum's unemployed state, she got another job and we relocated. This was before schools could open for the nextvterm. When moving all we had to carry was our clothes because the new house was already fully furnished. I felt bad leaving that house because I had gotten used to it as I lived there for the sixteen years of my life. Looking back at it as my mum drove away, my eyes gave way to tears. My mum said "don't cry, I'm sure you will like the new house better". I looked at her and sighed. She could not understand, that house was nothing but a place she spent her nights and had her meals. It was not her home as her home was the firm where she worked. It did not mean as much to her as it did to me.
The drive to the new town was a quiet one as my mum and I did not have a lot to talk about. Moreover, I was still thinking about my old house as I looked at Sasha seated in the backseat probably feeling the same way. I decided to break the silence by putting my music on. A few of my favourite songs played and I sand along before I fell asleep. The ride was really long that I had no idea where we were going. I recall that I fell asleep and woke up twice that journey. The third time I fell asleep and probably entered dreamland, I heard my's voice saying " wake up sleepy head we are here".
I half opened my eyes and told my mum to wake me up when we reached our new home. She told me that we were home and I could not help but open my eyes and mouth so wide that she laughed at me.
The house was enormous. It was a two storey building that kept me wondering why we had such a huge house for the two of us. It had air conditioners mounted on its walls and its window s were theslidable ones. It was built in a vintage kind of style and the yard was so big that you could fit an olympic football pitch in the backyard. I could see a garage with three cars parked there. Two company cars and one porsche one. The entire yard or atleast where our car was parked was paved with some vegetation in the sides.
I decided to get out of the car and explore my new home. Behind this beautiful house laid an equally big swimming pool. I could not swim but it was cool that I had apool at my residence. Besides the pool was a beautiful garden with various types of flowers. The flowers where so beautiful and gave a lovely smell.
After exploring some of the outdoor environment, I decided to check the inside out. The door looked royal and I felt like a queen entering her palace. The entrance was so inviting because as soon as I opened the door, my eyes were greeted by a beautiful fountain, in the house, this place was amazing. The floor was marbled and I felt like the richest person in the world. The family room was so welcoming with a light brown touch. The couches were laid in a sunken place in a circular manner with an expensive looking coffee table in the centre.
I saw a staircase and headed right up. On the first floor were many doors but one had my name pasted on it. I was anxious to see what lay behind that door and I quickly opened it. I saw a bedroom that was larger than our entire previous house. It was painted in my baby blue which is my favourite colour and had its own television set mounted on the wall just in front of the king sized bed. It had its own bathroom and toilet too. By the side of the room was a large window that let in a lot of light just the way I liked it. There was no way that was my bedroom. As though reading my mind, my mum walked in saying "Maylander Samantha Monica Peters, this is your new bedroom dear" as she turned around to leave.
I felt so glad as I dropped myself onto the soft bed face down. I then turned facing the ceiling and felt even more glad. What was better with this new place was that we had our own housekeeper and chef which meant that I didn't have to do all the chores anymore. Could life get any better?
The following week I was enrolled into some fancy school. This was the best school in the country. Known as the 'school for the rich'. I loved my new uniform too. The uniform comprised of a flared skirt that reached just above my knees, a white collared short, a tie that had a weird design with the school logo on it and a blazer that made me look very intellectual. It was such a pity that I only had to wear it for a few more months before I graduated the following year. I stood in front of the mirror admiring my new school look until our chef called for my presence for lunch.
Graduating was a big deal for me because I was finally going to head into the real work and become an independent strong woman like my mother. Unlike her, I had no plans of having any family or children. All I wanted was a great job, a lovely house and amazing cars. That would mean the world to me.
