Ch 18: I'll Take Care Of You

"Hi." Lisa whispers when she enters the room because she feels the need to be quiet inside her brother's quiet bedroom. Bam Bam's bedroom that's pretty much hers too since she sleeps here every time she doesn't stay at Chaeyoung's.

Bam Bam doesn't say anything, he only turns to look at Lisa's direction, without making eye-contact, to acknowledge Lisa's presence.

"Are you busy?" She knows it's a dumb question because she can clearly see that Bam Bam is studying as he is slumped over his desk. "Can you take a break?" She asks then as she carefully lets herself lean back on the wall next to the door, because she can't sit down but she can't hold her own weight either.

Bam Bam sighs as he drops his pencil and turns his swivel chair to face his sister, but still doesn't make eye-contact as he has his eyes on his hands that are nervously clasped together on his lap.

He seems more annoyed than anything. Like, he's extremely uncomfortable and would prefer going to a frat party than having this conversation with Lisa. And for Bam, going to a frat party means the absolute hell.

"I'm gonna have a surgery."
Lisa starts, even though she knows Bam knows that already because Minzy told her. The younger boy nods once to confirm it but still doesn't look at Lisa. He just waits impatiently for her to finish, so he can go back to his studying. "I'm gonna like, need to take over your bed after that."

It's not like she has many choices. She's unfortunately not going to be able to take care of her own self for a while after the surgery, so she can't stay at her apartment, and she can't stay at Chaeyoung's either, even though the brunette has been pretty grumpy about it. She wants to take care of Lisa, she's said so many, many times.

Lisa just doesn't know how to tell her family that she wants to be with Chaeyoung constantly, that both of them are growing needier by the minute and probably still going to be inseparable long after the surgery, without telling them that she's still very much in love and in a relationship with her best friend.

She can't tell them because telling Minzy is like telling Sandara and Lisa doesn't know how Chaeyoung feels about that. They haven't actually talked about it, it's like a silent agreement to wait until after Lisa has the surgery to announce to their families that they've been lying to them for months...The longer they wait, the harder it gets. But it's not a priority.

So, Lisa has to stay here. It's not that bad, she knows that Chaeyoung is going to be here too, even if it means risking Minzy or Bam Bam finding out about them.

It's fine when Chaeyoung is just in her thoughts, it happens literally all the time, but it's different when Chaeyoung is around.

Lisa's afraid that she's accidentally going to confess her love for her in front of everyone. She has to be really careful.

"You already took over my bed." Bam points out, making Lisa shrug and nod. It's true.

"But I'm gonna be here all the time." Lisa continues, only because she just wants to talk to Bam and wants Bam to talk to her. But her brother just shrugs at her, he doesn't seem to care. "Does that bother you?"

"I have my classes, I'll manage." Bam answers indifferently, effectively making Lisa frown at him.

"Can you at least pretend that you care?"

"No, I can't pretend. I'm sorry." Bam turns his chair to face his desk again and picks up his pencil, making it clear that he doesn't want to talk to Lisa anymore.

Bam Bam's not easy to talk to sometimes, Lisa wonders why she even tries when Bam is being like that. He tries to distance himself so much that it's like he doesn't even want to be related to her or their mom. Or anyone, really. He's really closed off but Lisa isn't sure what her brother is trying to achieve with that.
