Chaeyoung still can't believe that Lisa and Jennie managed to convince her to come here.
It's Saturday night, all she wants to do is go home and be with Lisa and watch TV until she falls asleep on the couch and then be woken up only to go to bed and sleep again.
But no, this isn't happening tonight because the radio station celebrates its twentieth anniversary and Chaeyoung had to attend this boring party. She's without Lisa though, who still wouldn't be here even if her spine was okay because she doesn't want anyone to know that she's Chaeyoung's girlfriend yet.
At least Jennie is somewhere around here, chatting with people and being social, and there is also a lot of wine. Chaeyoung is actually taking advantage of that to avoid small talk, or make small talk seem like less of a chore.
She sighs, knowing very well that it's time to stop being so antisocial and force herself to get up from the table, at which she's sitting alone now, and go find Jennie. She thinks she will, once she finishes yet another glass of wine, but a voice calling her name ruins her plans.
She turns behind her to see a tall woman standing over her, instantly causing her to panic, not only because of how imposing the other woman looks, but also because Chaeyoung doesn't think that she remembers her name.
She panics because she knows this woman, she knows that she's a major shareholder of the radio station, and of many other companies for that matter. She's just someone that Chaeyoung should definitely know, especially considering that this woman knows Chaeyoung's name.
"Hi." She starts to stand up but the other woman places her hand on Chaeyoung's shoulder and keeps her in place as she steps in front of her and takes a seat right opposite her.
"You seem to enjoy yourself." She teases as she adjusts her jacket and crosses one leg over the other, effectively causing Chaeyoung to chuckle as she shrugs. "I wouldn't be here either, if I didn't have a few important obligations."
"I guess that makes two of us." Chaeyoung comments, still feeling uncomfortable for not knowing to whom she's talking, and the other woman apparently realizes that.
"If I wanted you to know who I am, you would know. But I will tell you that my name is Lee Soohyun." She decides to announce, and although it takes Chaeyoung a few seconds to remember where she knows that name from, it still obviously surprises her and she can't hide it as her eyebrows rise and her jaw drops. "Oh, wow. Lisa hates me that much, huh? I didn't realize."
"No! No, no, no." Chaeyoung is quick to reassure, furiously shaking her head and sounding a bit funny in her efforts, which apparently amuses Soohyun.
"Your friend has been all over me since the minute I got here." Soohyun says then as she looks around the room, causing Chaeyoung to turn her head and look at the direction that Soohyun is looking too. But she only finds Jennie standing there and talking to some random guy. "I didn't know you would take this direction."
"What?"
"With the recording studio. I would bet that you would pursue a career in singing." Soohyun explains, effectively creating more questions that Chaeyoung wants to ask.
She doesn't though, because now she realizes what Lisa talks about when she talks about her boss and how she's being weird and cryptic and asks a lot of questions. She clearly knows both Lisa and Chaeyoung through someone or something, Chaeyoung has no doubt about that, so she stops being surprised every time this woman reveals yet another thing that she knows about them.
"I could do both if I wanted to." Chaeyoung says coyly, earning a laugh from the older woman.
Chaeyoung thinks she feels so daring and bold because of all the alcohol in her system, which is okay. Well, now she thinks it's okay, in the morning Chaeyoung will probably regret having this conversation.
