Thomas' POV
I was starting to become curious. I was starting to want to get out of the Glade, being trapped was making me claustrophobia and I was becoming angry.
I've been here for about a week and I was getting anxious.
There was something about having to be stuck here, following their rules, pretending everything's okay. Everyone should go out everyday and search every part, there wasn't a point in everyone staying here.
Every time I slept, I had a dream. A dream that wasn't just a dream, it felt real. I remember this girl, I can't remember her name, I can barely remember what her face looks like, but I see pieces of her behind a screen, working, trying to ignore me.
"Thomas," Newt came up to me. "How're you holding?"
"Good," I lied. "Just getting a bit anxious."
"That usually happens the first week or so, the claustrophobia," he nodded, understanding. "When you understand that this is your home and you find your part, it'll be easy."
"I don't want to stay here."
"It's not a choice," he explained. "You're stuck here whether you like it or not."
Over the next week, they trialed me into finding what job was a perfect fit for me. None of them fit me well enough, I wasn't a Med-jack, I wasn't a Slicer, a Cook, Builder, Track-hoe, there wasn't anything I was actually good at.
It was frustrating. They tell you to find your place and do your part, but what if I don't have a place?
What if I didn't belong here?
Blake's POV
The next morning, I woke up to the usual blaring sound at sunrise, feeling groggy from the night before.
I got up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I pulled on my clothes, the usual uniform, before going down to the cafeteria, where I got breakfast.
After finding out about Thomas, I started picking out the faults in WICKED. The way people acted, they didn't know what they were really doing underneath this false image.
"Good morning, Blake," Ava greeted me. "You look tired."
"Yeah, I spent all night doing exactly what you told me not to." I chuckled, trying to end conversation with her.
"You're gonna be looking into the Maze for the rest of work day, are you excited?"
"More than you even know." I lied, grabbing my breakfast and heading to the lab where they held everything with the Maze.
I set my food to the side, not feeling hungry. I sat down, typing my user information into the computer before looking at what was going on in the Maze.
The people I came to know as Minho and Ben were going into the Maze, doing their daily jobs that they named Runners.
Alby was the only one awake and roaming around the Glade, waking up most of the Gladers.
He talked to Thomas for a while, almost telling him that they couldn't find a place for him within the given jobs but that he had something in mind.

The day was over and I wanted to stay here and watch what happened overnight. I wanted to see how Thomas was doing. Considering everything, I kind of missed him.
Even though I was a bitch to him, ignoring his letters and messages, it was shitty of me.
I went back to room, locking it behind me and decided to finish reading Thomas' letters.
Blake,
I did something I shouldn't have.
I got into trouble, but I was able to talk my way out of it. They're keeping a close eyes on me now so I can't do anything.
I was trying to figure out what they did with the kids, I ended up following one of their trucks into the garage, where I saw them drag them out of the trucks and into the compound.
But they caught me before I could look further into it.
I told them I wanted a truck to go out and get a live subject, they weren't falling for it until I told them I thought I had a cure and didn't want to get everyone's hopes up.
Ava let me off the hook, but I know she's got guards every corner with close eyes on me. She wants me to show her what I have tomorrow, but that's the problem, I don't have anything.
I was hoping you could help but you've yet to reply to me, I'm starting to think you haven't read my letters at all.
I understand the need to stay focused. If I don't write back, you can assume they've gotten to me.
