An Upside Down Day ( COMPLETE )

The circus

This story was just something I came up one night during my  study time in the classroom... It's short but I hope you like it...

BELLA was bored and tired. Getting dragged here was not her idea of fun but it was her best friend, Jemali, who wanted to come here in the first place.

This place that Belle kept referring to was filled with food, rides,clowns, magicians, acrobats and so many colorful things. Yep, Belle was definitely not happy about being forced to come to the Town Circus.

"Come on Belle, we'll miss the elephant show!"exclaimed Jemali as she dragged Belle through the many stalls that were set up around  them.

" Jemali, slow down or you'll hit something,"said Belle with an apprehensive look.

Jemali rolled her eyes at her friend's negativity, "Belle we are going to be fine,relax."

Both girls had nearly made it to the Main Arena when Jemali suddenly stopped in front of a smaller tent that had a sign that read;

Madam Moon

Fortune Teller Extrodinare

Jemali grinned with excitement and turned to Belle who still looked bored,"You thinking what I'm thinking."

Belle took one look at the sign and shook her head. Jemali sighed before dragging her into the smaller tent.

"Jemali, it's probably a hoax, fortune tellers aren't bona fide and besides, we'll miss the elephant show," Belle said as they entered the tent. The inside was cozy purple with crystals  hanging everywhere while some were in small glass vases that sat around the tent. The floor was furnished with green and blue rugs and dream catchers hung on the ceiling.

In the centre of the room was a table that had only a deck of  tarot cards and a so-called magic orb. There was also a chair that sat empty behind the table.

"Wow," whispered Jemali as Belle looked around unimpressed.

"Are you here to have your fortunes?"asked a woman who now sat calmly with a serene smile on her face in the once empty chair. Both girls gasped with surprise.

" Oh Yes."

" Umm No."

Both girls answered simultaneously as they glanced at each other before turning to the woman must be Madam Moon.

"Well?"she asked again as Jemali made up both their minds and dragged Belle over to the table.

" Sit,"Madam Moon said. Both girls looked down to see two empty chairs. Belle was sure that even if she was bored, she didn't see those chairs there when they came in.

The girls sat down as Madam Moon laid her tarot cards in front of them and said, "Pick three cards."

"Why three ? Why not two, five or seven?" asked Belle as Jemali slapped her hand,"Oww!"

"Rude," said Jemali as she glared at her friend. Belle simply pouted and rubbed her sore hand.

"One for the past , present and the future." Madam Moon answered.

"Oh," Belle whispered sarcastically. The girls then picked three each and laid them on the table. Madam Moon  first turned to Jemali and flipped her cards one by one.

Madam Moon smiled sadly at her,"A hard past, born by mistake."

Jemali shrugged good naturedly as Moon continued, " A struggling and ambitious present. Always the one who cares. Finally, a bright future faced with lights."

"What do you mean?" Jemali asked with a frown.

"You were the result of a one night stand and you've had to live with that. You're living a hard life as you struggle to get yourself a better future which you eventually will. A life in the lights."

"Wow," said Jemali with awe as Moon now turned to Belle who looked as though she'd rather be anywhere but here. As Moon flipped her cards ,she gave her a bittersweet smile and said," Born and left to despair, you found a home in your past. Your present is overshadowed by the crooked shadow man."

Belle sighed,"What does that mean?"

"You were born and left abandoned but you found a lovely home yet now a man has overcasted and ruined your life."

Belle's eyes narrowed and Jemali rubbed her shoulder with comfort,"She was raped about a year ago."

"And you feel that you will never recover and learn to love and trust a man?"

"Never," Belle said with finality in her words. Moon smiled,"Your future says otherwise. "

Belle frowned, " What?"

"You'll learn to love because someone will come along and teach you."

"That's impossible."

Moon shrugged,"That's your future."

She then grabbed a bottle of pink glitter, opened it the lid and threw a dash of it at Belle whilst saying,"wohs reg eht reutuf worromot, ekaw pu ni eht reutuf."

Belle sneezed at the glitter,"What was that?!!"

"A blessing," replied Moon as the girls heard the sound of the Ring Master speaking through a microphone,his voice echoing throughout the area.

"Oh no ! The Elephant show, we gotta go," Jemali exclaimed with excitement, "Come on Belle,thanks for the fortune Madam Moon."

She then pulled a still sparkling Belle out behind her. They both ran as fast as they could to the Main Tent while Moon watched with a satisfied smile.

A door opened to reveal an exhausted yet still sparkling Belle as she entered her home.

"Mum,I'm home," Belle yelled as she closed the door behind her and locked all three locks,"Mum?"

Belle found her mum sleeping peacefully on the couch with an open book on the floor. Belle smiled as she grabbed a quilt and covered her up.

Later after she took a shower, changed, ate her dinner and brushed her hair, she jumped into her bed to read a book on cats. Very soon, she was drifting to sleep but her last thought were on Madam Moon's fortune and what rubbish utter it was......
