I walk out of seventh period the next day, mentally cheering that this day is over. I walk over to my locker, placing my textbook that I received last period in there.

"Blakee." I hear her say beside me and my stomach churns.

"Yes, Brookie?" I say turning towards her with a smirk. I don't know why she doesn't like that nickname.

"Don't call me that." She says with a stern look, to which I contain my laughter, "Can you please give me a ride home?"

I lean against my locker, "One, what about your mom? Two, what about Shane and Jessa? Three, I thought you would rather walk?"

She crosses her arms over her chest before leaning on one leg, "Mom's at work. Shane and Jessa are going to that place. And my feet hurt."

I laugh at her, "So, I guess I'm just your last choice?"

"Pretty much." She says with a nod.

"That hurt, right here Brookie." I say with mock hurtness. It did really hurt but I wasn't gonna tell her that.

She rolls her eyes, "So are you gonna take me home or nah?"

"Yah, I will. But we have to run a errand first." I say walking away from her.

She sighs loudly, following me, "Fine."

I smile at her before leading her out to my rusty old truck.

"Oh my gosh! Can I ride it?" She squeaks right when we pull into my uncle's driveway.

"You can," Her eyes light up, "After I fix it." She frowns at me.

"Thanks for getting my hopes up."

"Anytime, sweet cheeks." I say with a chuckle.

"I'm going in to say hey to Uncle Roger and Aunt Darla." She says in a small voice before, walking through the door, into the kitchen.

I shut my door right when my Uncle Roger walks out, "Y'all two were in the car together and didn't kill each other?"

I laugh, "You mean she didn't try to kill me?"

"Right. You like her." He says in a loud voice.

"Shh." I automatically say, my face turning red.

He laughs before nodding his head at the four wheeler, "I need you to grease it and unclog the radiator. And I'll pay you thirty for it?"

"That's fine sir." I say patting his back.

"Alright," He says clapping his hands, "Let's get this sucker loaded."

"Alright." I walk over to the trailer, letting the tailgate down. I walk over and pull the front while he pushes the back. He pushes the back up onto the trailer and pushes it all the way on. Once we have it loaded, I tie it up and close the tailgate.

"When do you need it back?" I ask crossing my arms.

"Whenever you get finished will be fine." He says reaching into his pocket, pulling out his wallet. He grabs a ten and a twenty, handing it to me.

"Thank you." He nods at me and we walk into the house.

I wipe the little mud that are on my boots on the welcome mat before stepping inside. I notice Brook talking to my Aunt Darla in the kitchen and I smile.

I walk around to my aunt and embracing her in a hug, "Hey, Aunt Darla."

She smiles, "Hello, Blakie."
