Kiss Me

Chapter Ten

I see scattered branches broken and stomped on. A path of blood leading to a small opening where I see a body. I look around seeing scratches on the trees and footprints scattered all over the ground. I slowly walk towards the body and see its still breathing very slow. I hear nothing so I crouch down next to the body.

It's a boy and he's a camper, I noticed from his tattoo and sword next to him bent. I check his pulse and he's still alive but going to die if he doesn't get immediate attention. He coughs opening his a little looking at me and motioning me toward a bag under him.

Very quietly I barely hear it he says, "Take it."

I gently lift him up taking the bag and looking inside I see two things; the crown and a small box which I later discover was meant for his girlfriend.

I put the bag on latching tightly to myself and then grab him bridal style. Walking towards the camp a branch breaks and I freeze. I turn around and see a snake hissing at me, but this snake has red eyes and radiates power unrecognizable. I falter back not sure what to do, this camper is going to die if I don't get him back. But how will I fight if I can't reach my sword without dropping him.

I slowly take steps back the snake still watching when a figure appears behind the snake an arrow making it straight through its head. The body goes limp for a second but then raises again turning in the direction it was shot. Out of the shadows a arrow emerges pointing at the snake and then the person behind it, Will.

Knowing he will only be able to distract it instead of harming I set down the camper against a tree slowly turning back. Will is still aiming his arrow at the snake which is a few feet away from him. Not making eye contact I shadow travel right behind the snake quietly. I take my sword and as if sensing it the snake starts to turn but Will let's his arrow fly making the snake turn back gaping his mouth at him. Quicker than I see it grabs his arm tearing it. He lets go of his bow gasping grabbing his arm where red liquid (that's not blood) flows.

I quickly slash across the snake necks making sure it's dead but having the ground swallow. Putting my sword away I run to Will who's pale and sweating a lot, red veins going up his arms. I put him on my lap start to hit his face lightly.

"Will! Come on wake up." I shake slightly.

He opens his eyes faintly looking towards me and says softly, "Get the camper toward safety. Leave me behind."

I shake my head furiously, "I'm not leaving you over some stranger."

He then says, "Nico just go. I've lived though enough and he hasn't experienced much."

Again a shake my head, "I'm not leaving you and you can't convince me. " I try to think of ways to get both out of here and realize there's only one thing I can do. Turning to Will his eyes are closed and his breathing is shallow.

"No! Will wake up! Wake up!" he doesn't open his eyes this time.

Desperate I scream up to the sky, "Gods of Olympus! If any of you can hear me please send help! Dad help me, help them they don't deserve this! Please!" looking over at the campers I see a necklace with a sun, Apollo.

"Apollo! You're children are dying! Do something to save them! Please I can't lose him. " I whisper looking at Will who ie close to death.

Then not being able to take it anymore I scream. A scream that sent all the nearby animals running. A scream that gave anyone who heard it goosebumps. A scream of someone finally breaking. A frustrated scream not understanding why everyone around him dies. The scream was so powerful campers and gods alike knew someone had cracked after decades of hiding.

The scream made Nico pass out holding Will thoughts of death on his mind. Because of the scream the crown turned on attaching itself to Nico. At camp the campers were wondering what that horrible sound was that was stuck in their head preventing them from sleeping.

For the first time in centuries two Gods appeared at the camp at the same time. Apollo and Pluto had heard the pleas of a broken soldier trying to save his comrades on the brink of death. The campers feeling the aura of these two gods left their cabins immediately paying their respect by kneeling in front of them bowing their heads.

Apollo looked at his kids with a glare that made them all cower especially the girl Jane. With a powerful voice he said, "You have been blinded by your selfishness to prove to us who's the best. This behavior caused you to reject a soldier that foretold death of one of your own."

Hades then stepped forward making all the campers slouch away with his armor full of dead spirits screaming at them to run. With a commanding voice he says, "You will be punished because of this."

The campers looked at each other fear in everyone's eyes,  wanting to talk but not fearing they would get punished more.

"Tonight," Hades continued, "One of your own will die." he looked at the Apollo cabin when he said this.

"You will find his body a mile outside of the camp. When you find him you will also find two others." Apollo then continued.

"One is the soldier who foretold your friend's death and the other you're brother. You will bring them to the camp and treat them well for they warned you but you failed to listen." Then once they had finished they vanished in a golden light and the screams of the dead telling them to obey.

All those there were in shock of witnessing two gods at once. After a minute of trembling Reynard spoke up, "Everyone back to bed! Hazel, Frank, and Jane will stay with me! Anyone caught out of their cabins will be punished harshly!"

Everyone slowly goes back to their cabins too scared to speak hoping they can sleep after what just happened. Reynard and the three campers head out to find Nico, Will, and the other camper (Oliver) all battered and covered in blood. Just like the gods foretold Oliver was dead while Nico and Will had shallow breaths.

Frank turned into a horse so they could put Will and Oliver on his back with Jane making sure they didn't fall off. While Reyna and Hazel carried Nico, thankfully no monsters attacked them. They made it back to the camp and the Apollo cabin mourned over their friend and his girlfriend found the box in his bag with the ring.

The crown hid itself from the girl so she wouldn't take it and when Reyna tried to remove the bag from Nico at the infirmary it wouldn't budge. Nico and Will were treated well and put next to each other unconscious for 3 days.

Nico woke up first.
Will was dying next to him.
