The day went better than I had expected not getting crap from anyone except for a few glares coming from some purple shirt wearing idiots. But we ignored them.
Going to into the city there was little businesses and mom & pop shops where many were getting something to eat or walking to work (I'm assuming). Hazel and Frank made sure to point out replicas of monuments or statues that were actually in Rome, what they were called plus their history.
Not trying to rude but I just spaced out looking everywhere and at everyone. Everything seemed so calm and no one seemed rushed, making it all seem dream like. 'Could Will and I live here?' I suddenly thought but quickly debunked it, 'No. What if this relationship doesn't work? I can't get my hopes up too high and getting crushed later on.'
"You OK Nico?" I heard Will say and I just nodded catching up realizing I was falling behind.
Will just looked at me weird but left it alone. After half an hour of just walking Hazel and Frank led us to a brunch place since we hadn't eaten breakfast since it was nearing lunch time. The food was was good and according to Frank the restaurant's owners lived in Rome before it became too dangerous and they came here.
After we walked for a couple of hours we decided to take a break at an ice cream shop.
"Vanilla? Out of all the flavors you can choose from you chose vanilla." Will says to Frank as we walk to a bench underneath the shade of a tree.
"I like vanilla okay. I think it's underrated." he says shrugging.
Will shakes his head, "It's not about if it's underrated its about the plainness in it."
Me and Hazel sit down while they stay standing up debating whether vanilla is good or not.
"Isn't he lactose intolerant?" I ask her before drinking my water having passed on the ice cream.
"Yeah but he got this different kind of ice cream that doesn't have dairy but tastes the same." she says and I nod.
Will and Frank eventually sit down and we start talking about heading back to the cabins in 3 hours.
"Why?" Will complains.
"Because after we eat an early dinner we need to rest so we can leave to CHB early in the morning. They're probably wondering why it's taking us so long." I say.
"Ugh fine." he agrees quicker than expected.
"We should start heading back now so we can stop with Reyna and tell her you're leaving tomorrow morning." Frank says standing up giving Hazel a hand lifting her up.
"Yeah. Plus there's nothing that interesting after this point just more businesses and clothing stores." Hazel says.
I get and say, "OK and Will?"
He looks up still sad we're leaving, "I'll buy you a souvenir on the way back if you want."
He smiles getting up saying, "Of course I want."
We start heading back and Hazel drags Will into a shop where I end up buying him a wooden keychain of a bow and a quiver of arrows. Then when we're reaching toward the edge of the city a little shop full of stuffed animals and pillows catches his attention.
When we're inside the store I see dolls and stuffed animals and pillows and blankets. I look at Will and he looks around in wonder. I chuckle at his expressions toward the stuffed animals.
In the end he ends up getting a small lion admitting its his favorite animal. After paying for it he takes it without a bag and pets it's soft hair.
The sun is down when we get to where we first met Reyna and she looks exhausted.
"Can I help you?" Reyna says leaning back in her chair papers scattered all over her desk.
"We wanted to tell you that Will and Nico will be leaving tomorrow morning." Hazel says.
"Good. I won't have to be worrying about either of you harassing my campers." she says pointing at me and Will.
"We're fine with leaving this horrible camp anyways. You should try and tell your campers to be a bit more open-minded because at the rate they're going, they're going to end up on a lot of peoples kill list." Will says before walking out with Frank and Hazel behind him.
"I don't know what your campers have against Greeks, but the campers at Camp Half Blood don't even talk about you guys let alone think about killing you guys. So you need to set your campers straight before they start another war." I say before walking ignoring Reyna's threats.
Will, Frank, and Hazel are all outside waiting Will looking like he's about to explode.
I take Will's hand and start walking away from the building angry at her ignorance. These campers think so highly of themselves they're going to start a war with the Greeks who have nothing against them.
"Nico?" Will says pulling me out of my thoughts.
That's when I realize I'm holding his hand and see a few people looking at us with disgusted looks. I look back at Will and see the worry in his eyes and think, 'I don't give a crap about what people think because I'm not coming back here again.'
So then and there I grab his face which he freezes but then slowly relaxes into it kissing me back. I do hear some angry insults thrown at us but Hazel immediately retorts them making the voice go quiet.
When we separate Will says, "Wasn't expecting that."
I laugh. The first time I've laughed in a loving way since Bianca died. "I've realized that I don't care about what they think."
Intertwining our hands Will says, "And you shouldn't because this is who you are and the person I've come to really really like."
After a few seconds of silence Hazel says, "I am so sorry to ruin the moment but can we go to the cabins. I need to get ready before we go to eat dinner at the pavilion."
Will says, "Me too. I am starving!"
I start to walk toward the cabins Will's hand in mine and smile knowing that he won't break my heart.
While I was writing this I thought that Hazel (in my story) is like the duck from Chicken Little... I can't remember her name but she was so confident and knew what needed to be done and did it.
Also sorry for the short filler chapter but I needed to update. Next chapter will be better and faster paced.
