As Bendy vanished behind the rock, Felix's look of concern only grew.
"Bendy! what's wrong? Are you ok?" the adventurer said, calling out to Bendy. He didn't receive a response. Perhaps he failed or was too slow to notice the black ink present on Bendy's face before he disappeared behind the boulder.
"Bro!" Boris exclaimed, rushing to aid his brother. He clearly knew what was happening to his poor brother, and so did I. I wondered if the Cup brothers knew about their situation.
"Boris, what's going on? What's happening to Bendy?" Felix seemed to overwhelm Boris with questions as Boris' face only grew worried by every word. I had to step in.
"Boris, does. . . does he know?" I cautiously asked, hoping that Felix wouldn't overhear. He did.
"Know what? Is there something he isn't telling me?" More questions only spewed from his mouth. I gave Boris a little nudge in the right direction; Felix needed to know.
"But how did you? I never - oh nevermind, you're right." he muttered, at a low volume so only I could hear him say it. He walked to Felix with a serious expression, before whispering the unfortunate news to him.
I hoped Bendy would be okay with this.
"He. . . he what?" Felix looked baffled at what Boris had revealed to him. A dark inky secret in which you shouldn't be proud to have to keep. "I-I'm sorry Mr Felix, I really would tell you more, but I need to help Bendy!"
Boris too vanished behind the rock.
"(Y/N), you knew about this? But how? You only just met him, haven't you?" I looked back at the rock the ink brothers were hiding behind, then made eye contact with the writer.
"I also just realized. Before he hid behind that boulder, I saw the ink. I didn't know until just now, really." I confessed, "maybe I should go help him, too. You know, right?"
He looked away in shame at the grass. "I do. Please, go help him. Take your time."
I smiled warmly at his honesty, before following the path of the ink brothers behind the boulder. I knew what would behold me wouldn't be pretty.
When I turned to face the two brothers, I flinched at the heaps of ink which painted the grass black.
"(Y-Y/N)? Why are you here!?" Bendy said, before coughing out more of the inky substance onto the ink-stained grass. Boris continued to help his brother, wiping the ink off his face. The poor demon had black inky tears present in his eyes, resembling how I looked when that would happen.
It had been a while since I had seen someone else suffering so close. Was that how I looked like in the kitchen when it would happen?
"I-I just wanted to check if you were okay." I said kneeling down to his level. He was weakly leaning against the rock as he sat down, grotesque black liquid pouring into the bucket he held close to his chest.
"B-but-!" Bendy couldn't even finish his sentence before he coughed up yet another bucket of ink.
"It's okay, Bendy. There's nothing to be ashamed of, you're never alone you know." I took a seat on a patch of grass ink-free as I spoke to him in the most gentle voice I could.
"I have the ink illness too."
An awkward silence flooded the air and it only increased as Bendy slowly comprehended what I had just revealed to him. A dark secret of mine in which I held so close to my heart.
