(Scully's Point Of View)
I walked into Mulder's room, my heart beating twice as fast in my chest. He was laying there on his bed, staring at the ceiling. I don't even know if he noticed me walk into the room.
"Mulder, are you awake?" I asked nervously, holding back tears.
"Scully, I haven't been able to sleep since you were last here." Mulder whispered, sadness in his voice.
"Mulder, I don't even know how to begin. First of all, I am so sorry I haven't been here for you."
"Scully, I know. Don't blame yourself, because it's not your fault. It's not anyone's fault." Mulder replied louder this time, now looking into my eyes.
I think he could tell that I hadn't got any sleep either. I was too worried about him.
"Scully, you look tired. I'm not keeping you awake, am I?" Mulder asks worriedly.
It was at this point that I couldn't keep my tears contained any longer. I started sobbing, unable to control my emotions.
"Scully, don't beat yourself up over this. Everything is going to be fine."
"If everything's going to be fine, then why aren't you out of the hospital yet? It's been two days, Mulder. Two days. It felt like three weeks." I told him.
My voice sounded gravely, and it felt like tiny pebbles were in my vocal cords.
"Trust me, Scully. If anything, on this. And if things don't turn out as planned, take care of yourself. You'll be fine without me, if it comes to that." Mulder said solemnly.
"Mulder, don't say that. Without you, I wouldn't know what to do."
"Scully, listen to me. You survived cancer. You've been shot multiple times and recovered. And, you were fine without me for months when I was abducted. I know you can do this, Dana. Even if I don't end up finding the truth, I found you. And you are my everything."
"Mulder, I don't even know what to say. I... I love you." I sat down on the wall, facing the door.
He stared at me longingly, without saying a word.
I planned on staying here the rest of his time here, and if someone tried to make me leave, I would force them to let me stay.
