Thorin P.O.V
Bard helped all of us climb out of the barrels which I stubbornly accepted. I held onto Myra's hand as I followed Bard through the city. Bilbo was confused about where we were and I quickly explained that we were in the world of men. Everyone towered over us so it was important that we kept our heads low and moved fast. Thankfully, Myra could blend in by covering her ears with hair. Unfortunately, some guards spotted us in the market area.
However, they tried to stop us as we weaved through the market. We used our surroundings to subdue the guards. However, reinforcements came forcing us to hide. Myra crouched with me against a pillar while the townsfolk helped cover the guards. Eventually, they left and we could finally resume our trek. Bard helped lead us to his home but his son stopped us when we got close. Their house was under surveillance so we couldn't go through the front.
Myra was spared an embarrassing entrance. She used her magic to cloak herself and could go through the front. The rest of us didn't have this luxury and were forced to go through their toilet. His children helped us up and allowed us to freshen up. Myra and I shared a bath, allowing me to ask about that ring.
"Myra, what's that ring on your right ring finger? I saw it earlier when we met Bard." I asked as I held her hand
"I thought that it was hidden. The ring only appears to my kin. Seems like someone is becoming more of an elf." She teased making me chuckle. "The ring is the lifeline of my people and the source of all our power. It was the first ring of power given to us by our gods before we crossed. It preserves us in a realm that we weren't meant to inhabit." She explained
"Wait, its a ring of power?! Does that mean..." I began to ask fearfully before she stopped me
"This ring won't corrupt me. It wasn't made by Sauron or with his teachings. My father said that this ring appeared to us eons ago. The gods spoke to the first king of us all: Gil-Galad I, my great-great-grandfather. They spoke to him in front of the Great Tree under the Star of Nimolth where it was given to us to help others here." She informed me
"That's quite a tale. I'm glad that I won't have to worry about losing you." I said before pulling her into a hug. We embraced for a while before changing into our clothes and joining the others in the kitchen.
Bard passed out blankets to us for us to warm up in. The men tried to get close to the fire as possible, especially Bilbo. I stood next to the window looking over the town while Myra checked on everyone. As I scanned the town, I saw a ghost: dwarvish windlance, which took my breath away. Bilbo joined me and noticed my amazement which brought Myra over. Thankfully, Balin explained the importance to Bilbo. Myra sensed that I was getting tense and began to rub my shoulders and gave small kisses on my head.
"had the aim of men been true that day, much would have been different." I lamented
"You speak as if you were there." Bard commented
"All dwarves know the tale." I lied which he seemed to accept
"Then you would know that Girion hit the dragon. He loosened the scale under the left wing. One more shot and he would have killed the beast." Bard's son proposed
