Zircon paced outside the entrance of the kindergarten. The rebel troops having already retreated due to being outnumbered by gem soldiers. She huffed as the newly emptied kindergarten echoed the noise she admitted.
"I can't... What is this feeling?" Zircon was looking into the palm of her hand, then clenching it into a fist as her chest rose and fell at a rather rapid pace. "Ugh! This isn't normal!" She shouted as her fist collided with a nearby wall, rocks falling from the wall. "What is this. I shouldn't feel this.. this... sensation!" She gritted her teeth as a familiar gem emerged from the secret lab, watching Zircon's little moment. "This... Is it... am I becoming... Corrupt?" Zircon placed her hand on her chest, tears escaping her eyes. "I don't understand..." Her knees buckled as she collapsed on the floor. "I... I want to hate her for making me... For making me... feel..." Zircon began to tremble as she stuttered out. "W-what's wrong with me...?"
Chrysoberyl looked at Zircon, her lips in a frown as she stood up walking toward the broken gem. "I-I think I know what's wrong..." Zircon shot her head toward Chry, her eyes holding angry, fear, and even a bit of hope.
"What would that be?" Zircon's voice was stern as she didn't want anyone to see her so weak.
"Well... Since Pink Diamond took humans for her own Encloser... Some of us had to discover what human's needed to survive... So, among them needing to eat, sleep, drink, and have physical activities... We discovered that they... they also view this.." Chrysoberyl thought for a moment, trying to gather the correct words. "This sensation called 'Love' as a necessity as well..." Chrysoberyl looked down to Zircon.
Zircon looked into Chrysoberyl's eyes as she softly repeated the word. "Love..?" She questioned, not sure what it was.
Nodded softly Chrysoberyl continued. "Most human's that we talked to explained loved to be a feeling in which you long to be with someone..." Zircon thought about the moments she would travel back to earth in the hopes of seeing her again. "Or when someone makes you so confused but overall complete..." Zircon recalled the warm feeling she got once Chry gave her the stone. "But... they all say that love isn't easy... They say love makes you lose your mind... but also puts you back together... They say love is the most difficult thing to understand because it leaves you vulnerable. They say that love is the one thing that can kill you quicker than anything else but, they also say love is the one thing that can make the darkness disappear..." Zircon felt her chest lighten as she stared at the lovely gem before her, the sun seeping through the clouds and a gentle breeze blew through the kindergarten. Everything seemed right. "They say... They say..." Chrysoberyl blushed as she felt a burning sensation in her chest, Zircon began to rise as Chrysoberyl blurted out quickly. "They say that love is the greatest feeling in the universe."
Zircon looked down to Chyrsobeyl as she gently pulled her close, they got closer feeling each other's breath, lips mear inches apart. Just as their lips were about to touch, Chrysoberyl's visor projected an evacuation notice. It read.
All Homeworld gems evacuate immediately. This is not a drill. This is a direct order from the Diamonds. Evacuate to the telecommunication hub. Befo-
Chrysoberyl quickly shut off the visor as Zircon and her stepped back from each other. Both of them blushing as Zircon broke the tension. She walked toward Chrysoberyl hugging her from behind and resting her head on Chry's shoulder. "Let's get somewhere safe.." Zircon pulled back and gently grabbed Chry's hand "Come on.." They looked at each other. Zircon offered a sweet smile which Chrysoberyl returned whole heatedly.
"Yes... Let's go." The two retreated to the wrap.
