Leelands POV
When we pulled up to Josh's house, I'd never seen anyone get out of a car faster. I followed him inside and smiled softly when I heard singing in the family room. Josh blushed and peeked up at me. "Promise you won't laugh?" I giggled softly and nodded. "Promise." Why was he being so shy? "My family and I sing for singing telegrams. We need the money so..." Josh sighed and scratched the back of his head. I just smiled and nudged his shoulder. "Mind if I watch the Ramsay family in action?" I had no idea someone's cheeks could turn that shade of red until Josh looked up at me, obviously flustered. "Oh, um, sure, I guess.." He smiled and guided me into the family room. When we walked in, everyone looked up at us. Now it was my turn to turn red. "Mom, dad, Sara, this is my friend, Leeland. She just moved in next door." Josh grinned and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. I blushed and waved. They all waved back and gave me a polite smile. "Well, welcome to the neighbourhood, Leeland." Josh's mom grinned at me with that same grin Josh wore everywhere. I took a seat on the couch as Josh went and sat down on the piano bench. He grabbed the music book in front of him and flipped through the pages until he finally set the book back down. Josh started tapping his foot and began to play as his family began to sing behind him. "On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
"This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way.There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say... " My jaw dropped in awe as Josh started singing alone. "Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here." I applauded as everyone stopped singing, Josh's face was glowing with excitement. "So, did you like it?" He smiled down at me, almost out of breath. I nodded and blushed slightly. "We'll see you guys later!" Josh called back to his family as we walked out of the room and into the hall. "You were really amazing back there, Josh.." I smiled and played with a string on my pants. He blinked and tilted my head up by my chin. Josh ran his hands through my hair gently and started kissing along my jaw. What is he doing?! A blush crept across my face and I gripped his arms. I let out a mumbled "Josh, what're you doing?" but he ignored me. All of a sudden his lips were on mine and nothing else mattered. Well this wasn't awkward at all. Josh pushed me against the wall, running his tongue along my bottom lip. I shivered and bit his tongue ring playfully, making Josh groan slightly. He pulled away when we both heard the door open. How could he be so damn cute, even after he was just shoving his tongue down my throat?! Sara smiled at me as she walked past. Hah, if she only knew. "Let's head into the basement, yea?" Josh smiled and wrapped his arms around me. I nodded up at him and he leaned down and kissed me again. He was so perfect. Why'd he chose me over all people? Josh pulled me into the basement and sat me down on a tiny little couch only big enough for two people if they were uncomfortably close to each other. "Welcome to Casa de Josh." he grinned at me. "Not to spacey but at least I have a room, Sara sleeps on the couch upstairs.." Now I understood the whole singing telegram thing. They were broke. Most likely because of Josh's drug habit. He sat down in the corner on an office chair. Out of no where he pulled out a piece of rubber tubing and a needle. My eyes went wide and I curled into a ball, burying my face in my knees. "Lily, you okay?" Josh slurred. Lily? Where did that come from? I sighed and looked over at him. His eyes were fucking huge and he was picking at his arms and hands for no reason. "Josh, come here.." I sighed and held my hands out to him. Josh grinned and walked over to me, pulling me into his lap. I brushed his hair back and looked at him. "Why Josh?" Maybe I shouldn't be asking him questions. He's more or less out of it right now. He just kind of stared at me with this dazed look on his face. Out of no where, he smiled. "You're beautiful." Josh kissed my cheek softly and planted his head on my shoulder. His eyes drooped closed and I sighed, digging my phone out of my pocket. My mom picked up on the first ring, sounding terrified. "Leeland Ann Williams, Where are you?!" I glanced over at Josh, who was dozing off on my shoulder. "Mom, don't worry, I'm fine. I'm next door, the boy that lives here goes to the same school." And here comes the lecture. "Boy?! Leeland, I want you home no-" I pressed end and shoved my phone back in my pocket. She didn't control me. My birthday was in a few days, I'll be 18. I'll finally be an adult and my mom won't be able to do a thing. This is starting to sound fucking awesome. Josh twitched a bit and gripped my shirt, still sound asleep. His back was tense and he was squinting his eyes. "Josh, you okay?" I shook him gently trying to wake him up. All I got was "Migraine. Shh. Head hurts like a bitch." Well, that's Josh for you.
