The Fall

After a long and boring day of school, I rode the bus home, and upon returning home I started craving pickles. First putting my bag in my room, I ventured into the kitchen and grabbed a jar of pickles from the fridge. It was a different brand of pickles than I'm used to but I was in
no mood to argue with my mother's sale items when I wanted a pickle so badly. It's weird though, of all the number of times and amount of stores I've been to, I have never in my life seen this brand of pickles. They looked fine, so I went to twist the lid off and it didn't budge one bit.
Again and again, I try with no success and the more I struggle the more the sensation of numbing spreads throughout my body. Still, all I want is a pickle and so I didn't really pay much attention to it. Finally, I decided to use the old towel trick since I was struggling so much and after about a minute of struggling again, it popped. Then I'm falling, I don't know why or how but the next
thing I know I'm suddenly engulfed by a liquid substance and as I open my eyes they burn and only now do I realize exactly how numb my body has become, I can't move. My lungs burn and black dots dance across my vision as I finally figured out where I am, but I literally couldn't wrap my mind around it. Even as the pickles floated past me and the salty brine burnt my eyes, I was still registering everything in my brain, I had somehow fallen into the pickle jar. No, the pickle jar did not suddenly enlarge, it was still perfect size though I was a different story, the pickles were bigger than my now tiny body. As I take my time in putting together all the pieces, my body reacts to having no oxygen as the black dots completely override my ability to see and my brain goes blank. I somewhat welcome the darkness as though I was only falling deeper into sleep without waking from a dream.
