Charlie's POV:
Leo sits in the office, waiting for the nurse to be done with a student that has a bloody nose. I roll my eyes. Is it required for her to baby all of us? I think to myself. The kid soon walks out and the nurse waves us in. I help Leo stand up and we walk into her office. She looks startled seeing Leo with a bloody face.
"Oh god, sweetie, are you okay? Tell me everything that happened. Don't leave anything out, okay? I need to know everything." She says to him. I tell her what happened, not wanting Leo to speak. When she hears that Kyle is back, she grows even paler.
"Wait, Kyle Lenehan?" She asks in a shaky voice I nod my head and she looks angry and sad. What is wrong with the people at this school?
"I'm glad he didn't end up killing you. You said you hit him a couple of times, right Charlie." I slowly nod my head. Now that I look at the nurse, she reminds me of someone... Samantha Krone, the one who's sister my brother... I feel my eyes start to water.
"Serves him right." She says. She starts treating Leo's wounds. I see him flinch a couple of times. The nurse, I mean Samantha, puts some alcohol on a swab and I bite my lip. I know how much that hurts on a wound like Leo's. I walk up and hold his hand. I know its cringy, but Leo doesn't protest. Samantha glances at our locked hands.
"I was going to let Leo go home. Would that be okay with you, Charlie?" She asks me, looking at our locked hands. I am about to say sure, but I forgot something.
"He kinda lives with me... And doesn't have a way to get in without me..." I say. I feel me face getting hot. I hope she will let us both go home. I don't want to leave his side after what just happened. She sits there thinking for a few minutes, leaving is in silence. Finally, she speaks up.
"You can both stay at school, but if your both worried, I will give you an excuse to go home. Only if it is necessary, though." She says. I want to go home, but Leo shakes his head.
"We will stay here." He says in a croaky voice. Samantha doesn't seem so sure, though. She opens a drawer and takes out two bracelets with a light and a button attached to each. She hands me one and gives the other to Leo.
"If you press the button, the other person's light will flash. If the light flashes, that's an immediate excuses to leave class and go to the other person's class." She flips the bands over, revealing a GPS.
"This will tell you where to find each other. I am allowing you to permanently keep these, but be careful. These things are really expensive." She says and then waves us out of her office. Its already third hour, so Leo and I walk to our class.
Once we're in class, I give our teacher a note and we sit down. She starts talking about Chemistry or something. I'm thinking.
'I promise I will never leave you... Do you promise me the same?'
'I promise.'
Leo's POV:
I'm glad Charlie said we could stay, I have been looking forward to school for two weeks. I glance over at him, seeing that he's blushing. He catches me and I act like I was looking at the clock. I actually look and its already 11: 54. Six more minutes until class ends and we have to go to different classes. The thought makes me sad, but I remember the bands.
