awareness (noun): knowledge or understanding of a subject, issue or situation

-Jess's Point of View-

We sat snuggled up in the backseats of my car, trying not to freeze to death. The black, metallic Mustang was parked in the sunshine which I hoped would warm up the inside as well as the outside. I glanced over at Luke who was staring out of the windshield, lost in thought. I focused on his blue eyes. They weren't the ordinary color of blue, they were shades of oceanic blue and sky blue, just plain magnificent. I continued to stare at him as he caught my gaze and made eye contact with me. I smiled at him, unsure of what to say.

"So far I know that you sing. What else will impress me?" He whispered softly, making my insides melt and turn into liquid. I swallowed the feeling and thought of what to say.

"Absolutely nothing." I laughed a little. "It's your turn to introduce yourself."

Luke pondered for a while, continuously staring at me. I was intrigued by the boy sitting next to me. He was different from everyone else I had met so far, well all four boys were genuine but something about him just appealed to me. Suddenly, his beauty struck me as unexpectedly as lightning on a warm summer night. He had a little pointy nose that blended in with the rest of his features. I was officially scared for myself. Once I start thinking about a guy that way, it meant I was interested. But I couldn't be, I'd only met him last night and I knew absolutely nothing about him whatsoever. Sure, I enjoy spending time with him here and there but it wasn't something I could pursue.

"I've got two brothers, Jack and Ben. I'm the guitarist and lead singer in 5 Seconds Of Summer, like you already know. I'm not actually shy, even though that's how I came off as yesterday, I'm just always awkward around new people." Luke rambled on and on. My attention clung to each and every one of the words that came out of his mouth. I savoured his voice, letting it linger in my ears for longer than it should.

"Those are some basic facts." I giggled.

"Well, here's a random fact for ya, I've never seen the movie Bambi." He laughed, running his hand through his hair.

"Never?" I gawked at him, surprised like hell. Who hasn't seen Bambi? It's an all time classic. But then again, Luke didn't seem like the type of guy who cared for classic movies. He was more of a rock and roll fan, that's what I've figured out so far.

"Never." He confirmed, smiling sheepishly. I had an urge to pinch his cheeks but I was sure it would be really weird and I didn't want to scare him off.

"In the next couple of days, we're going to rent it and I'm going to make you watch it with me. No objections." I stated, dead serious.

"A couple of days? Why not now?" Luke suggests, wiggling his eyebrows. I laughed at how unusual he was then nodded, agreeing to his idea.

I got out of the car and took my place in the passenger seat, making myself comfortable. Luke stuck the key into the ignition and turned it with a lot of force, bringing the car to life. I grinned, not only because I loved the revving of the Mustang's engine, but because I was sitting next to such an enviable guy. I really didn't know how to explain it, but I just wanted to be around him.

I pulled up outside our local video store and motioned for Jess to exit the car. She climbed out and as soon as she did, I pressed the lock button on my keys which automatically sealed the doors. We strolled into the gigantic store and I headed straight for the clerk, who just happened to be one of my close friends, Dylan.
