XVIII. Perfidious

-Liam's POV-

I just stood there, surrounded by oak trees left and right. The trunk of a particularly large one concealed me exceptionally well. My heart ached as the ugly green monster which had been forming in the pit of my stomach stabbed at it violently. I huffed an immense breath as I rubbed my eyes, hoping it was all some twisted dream. I fisted the tree trunk as my blood boiled vigorously at the sight of Jess in the arms of another man, one who didn't deserve her.

My thoughts drifted to Harry's proposal for the 5 Seconds Of Summer boys, which was valid only as long as they kept their hands to themselves and minds off of his sister. I should know, I basically gave him the idea of the plan. I couldn't have handled seeing her with anyone else, now I know why. I was very well aware of being selfish, and I hadn't felt sorry about it even a little bit. By the looks of it, Luke failed to comply with the terms.

What had to be done, had to be done.

-Luke's POV-

The four of us, forming two very happy couples, were having the time of our lives. We were swimming, racing and splashing each other every few seconds. I cast a glance at Jess while we were floating above a large rock in the depth of the frigid water. She was looking up at the night sky, which was darker than the color black itself and decorated with shiny gem-looking stars. Her emerald green eyes shone in the moonlight ever so slightly.

My hand reached up to brush her cheek and her gaze met mine instantly as a genuine smile formed on her face. That was what I loved about her, she had a genuine smile and she rarely showed a fake one. I inched closer and brought my mouth onto hers, splitting it open with the tip of my tongue. She granted my request for entrance at once and let me explore her mouth thoroughly. Subsequently, after our passionate buss, we stared into each other's orbs for what seemed like eternity.

"I'm kind of tired," Jess said, finally speaking up and breaking the harmonious silence. I nodded gently as I intertwined our fingers.

"Hey you two, we're gonna get some shut eye," I announced, glancing over my shoulder at Michael and Jade who were in the heat of the moment.

"Right behind ya, bro," Michael said, pulling away from his beloved.

I grabbed onto the rock, hauling myself out of the water and onto the sharp grass. I held Jess's hand as I walked over to the spot where I had left our towels. It had to be way past midnight already because the air was freezing cold and the sky was darker than ever. I expected to turn into ice every time the wind collided with my wet and sensitive skin.

I wrapped my towel around my body and gently placed Jess's around hers. I still managed to snake my arm around her, trying to keep her as warm as possible. Michael and Jade followed in our footsteps, also cloaked in towels they had brought. Just before we strolled in through the front door, Jade began tugging at my arm.

"Luke?" She said.

"Yeah?"

"Can we, umm, trade roommates for the night?" She asked, the color creeping to her pale cheeks as she bit her lip shyly. "I was hoping to spend the night with Mikey."

"I'm down for that," I grinned and continued leading Jess upstairs.

I left her in the room as I had to get some dry clothes and get out of my swimming trunks. I shuffled to my walk-in closet and picked out a pair of grey sweatpants. I promptly brushed my teeth in the bathroom and left the towel in the laundry bin. When I returned, I  was shirtless and only in sweats. Jess had already pulled the covers pulled over her body, her head resting on the prosperous pillow.
